New diagnosis- question about a symptom

Hello. I finally got the positive diagnosis a couple of weeks ago. I actually had my first episode in 2007, but the neurologist was hoping that it was just a transverse myelitis since the rest of my work up was negative. I had another flare in September 2011 and again in December 2011. So now after seeing an MS specialist he feels that it was MS from the first episode in 2007. I have just started interferon and I feel good.

My flares in 2011 consisted of just numbness in the left arm in September and facial numbness in December. So I feel like I have been extremely lucky. I do notice my brain fuzz a lot more- but from gathering info on here- it seems to be par for the course.

However, I do have a question about symptoms. I don't want to think EVERY symtpom I ever have is connected to my MS but I have noticed that my upper left arm muscle is spasming almost constantly. It is not noticeable but I feel like it is just quivering. Is that a symptom of my MS? The lesion in September that caused the left sided numbness is gone, so is this just a residual effect? Thanks.

It is very possible that it is MS. A lot of times the Tremor is nothing more than a slight vibration inside the Muscle. It is good that you are curious about it, not everything is MS. We still have other things go wrong.

If it is not adversely affecting your Life I would just make a note of it and discuss it with your Doctor when you see them.

      Welcome, Liz!

I agree that it is possible. When I'm flaring/recovering, I often have a muscle under my bicep that twitches for a few weeks; I assume it's part of the joy of MS.

I absolutely get what you mean about not wanting to make everything about MS. Learning the difference between MS symptoms and other issues takes time; I know I'm still learning after nearly a year and a half!
