Desperate for Relief and Answers

I am so sorry for what you are going through.I have had similiar experiences and it is so frustrating to know that something is wrong and no one will listen.

I hope you find answers!!

You know your body and if you are not the type to overreact and you really feel you have a problem please continue to seek more opinions.

My sister was told that she just needed to relax and it was all in her head by two hospitals(one of which was UAB a very well known and teaching hospital)turned out on the third hospital that she not only had MS but also cancer.

An intern that was using her for a case study basically found the tumor that covered her entire left kidney and adrenal gland.If that one go getter had not listened and paid attention to her she would be dead now.They estimated 4 to 5 months of the malignant tumor would have killed her.

Granted some people do have issues that are related to stress,anxeity,or what have you.Take those deep breathes make sure you are not acting out of fear and if not shake it off and find a doctor that truly wants to find out what is wrong with you and does not consider you to be hysterical.

If your symptoms are truly caused by something not physical the doctor still should be directing you to mental health to evaluate.

I was told a long time ago to seek mental evaluation only to have the shrink say nope.....go to a nuero who will listen it is not mental.

If you go through the mental evaluation they can not say it has not been ruled out right?

I always keep in mind that doctors practice medicine.....some need more practice than others.

I pray you find anwers and in the mean time a doctor that will help you to treat sx'x even if a dx's is elusive so that your quality of life can be improved while they explore the possible dx's.

I assume that this Neuro is NOT a MS specialist? If he were why wasn't your MRI's done with AND w/o contrast? Both aspects of that need to be looked at according to all I have read and talked with my Doctors about.

One thing for you to try. Make an appt to go in and see your Chiropractor. Ask for a consult visit. When there, ask him about MS clinic and/or MS neurologist's in your area. A regular Neuro is just not specialized enough to handle the aspects of MS. I think he will understand AND help you. You can take any results you already have (like the Dr notes from your ER visit) and show him.

I am not certain he can help, but he's been God - sent for you so far.

Just have to say that y'all are awesome and have provided me with very useful information and I truly appreciate it. I am also very thankful for the prayers and encouragement! I decided to call my eye doctor yesterday and explained everything. He saw me this morning and was able to tell that there are defects in my field of vision. He doesn't have a good opinion of the Neuro I saw and has referred me to a new one and asking for MRI with contrast.

That is good news for sure! (The new Neuro referral I mean, not the continuing eye issues.) You are definately heading the right direction by not being willing to accept ... well... crap when it comes to your life. I am still very impressed that you didn't hurt the ER Dr after his "stupid little woman" speech to you. I think you are much sweeter natured than I am!
