    Chicago Area MS Specialist

Someone I know is looking for an MS specialist in the Chicago area...a doctor whom you really like.

She asked me specifically if anyone had heard of The North Shore Neurological Hospital.

If you live in the Chicago area and really like your neuro, who is an MS specialist, could you let me know? Thanks!

I see Daniele Anderson at Northwest neurology. She is wonderful. I think there are 8 drs in the practice. They have three different locations, lake barrington hoffman estates and arlington heights.

I go to Dr. Daniel Wynn at Consultants in Neurology in Northbrook. He also has offices in Chicago. He is excellent. I've been going to him for over 8 years now and I'm very happy with his care.
      Take care, Wiz

I see Dr Bruce Cohen at Northwestern. I used to go to the offices she mentioned in the suburbs and saw Dr Katsumakis. He was good before I got sick.

        Now I count on Northwestern.

          Greetings all!

32 male w/ RRMS in Chicago... diagnosed bout 4 years ago. I have been seeing a neurologist Dr. Hilliard Slavick and am generally pretty satisfied with his care, but wanted to get other opinions...

I see some votes for Northwestern, but what about Northwestern vs. Rush MS Center??

Anyone heard anything about the two compared to one another??

          Colin

            Hi Colin,

I'm a 33 yr old male living in the Chicago area with MS symptoms. I'm yet to be diagnosed, but I would definitely like to talk with you if you still on these boards. Thanks,

            Eric

              UIC

I see Dr. Skias at UIC. They are not (yet) a recognized MS clinic, but are working towards it according to someone I met from the local NMSS. But Dr. Skias is a specialist in MS, and he did his fellowship at the UofC, so you know he's on top of things.

I switched after having a bad experience at the UofC.

What I love about Dr. Skias is that he's very down-to-earth. He doesn't make you more freaked out about what's going on, and he seems to be up to be pretty up-to-date with research, though he doesn't jump on the bandwagon just because something's new. And he's always respected my opinions. And he's made good notes about my activities - that I travel a lot for work, that I figure skate, that I'm a musician ... all stuff that could help him with my current neurological state, but also nice to know he's concerned about how my health is in practical terms... not just in terms of the field sobriety test.

He also works at the V.A., should anyone who's reading need a good MS specialist through the V.A.

28 /m in the Burbs here. I see Dr. McCoyd at Loyola. He is a younger doctor but I like him a lot. His nurse is always off at MS conferences in europe for what that is worth.
