CHANGES AT MSWORLD - MSWORLD'S CLOSURE

We began with a mission and purpose to help others living with MS.

We were excited to get going!

And hit a few bumps along the way…

However, in all seriousness, we remain grateful for our amazing volunteers, members & all who have made MSWorld a valuable resource for all!

July 10, 2024, we celebrated the goodness of these past 28 years. With a heavy heart, we will be ending our services.

We need a financial miracle to keep going forward.

We thank all for your support.

MSWorld's website will close on October 16, 2024.

“I personally want to wish all of you the guidance to find this type of support, as so many do here. Also, my prayers and love extends beyond my understanding. It has been a pleasure to steward this journey.”

God Bless you, Kathleen

    HELP

MY HUBBY WAS DX WITH MS 3 YRS AGO. HE WORKS A PHYSICALLY DEMANDING JOB. HE RECENTLY HAD HIS YEARLY REVIEW AND GOT THE WORST EVALUATION EVER BECAUSE THEY SAY HIS WORK PERFORMANCE IS NOT WHERE IT SHOULD BE. HE WORKS HIS BUTT OFF EVERYDAY BUT HE DOES NOT HAVE THE STRENGTH HE USE TO. WE RECENTLY TALKED WITH HIS DOCTOR WHO WAS VERY DISCOURAGING ABOUT GETTING ON DISABILITY BECAUSE OF BEING DENIED AND THAT IT WOULD BE HARD JUST BECAUSE HE WAS IN CONSTANT PAIN AND HAD NUMBNESS AND HEADACHES. IT IS A DAILY STRUGGLE FOR HIM TO GET OUT OF THE BED. OUR QUESTION IS DO WE GO FOR THE DISABILITY, HE HAS SHORT TERM THAT GOES INTO LONG TERM WITH HIS JOB AND WOULD GET A PERCENTAGE OF HIS PAY OR CONTINUE ON AND RISK HIM BEING FIRED DUE TO LOW WORK PERFORMANCE AND THEN HAVE NO INCOME. I REALIZE THAT IF HE GOES OUT ON STD IT MAY BE SOME TIME BEFORE HE GETS APPROVED FOR SSD AND EVEN THEN WE WILL PROBABLY NEED A LAWYER. PLEASE GIVE US ANY ADVICE THAT YOU CAN. WE ARE AT A LOSS AND I AM STRESSED TO THE MAX.

    THANKS,

    Go on disability now

    ncangel,

I'm sorry to read your husband is having so many MS related problems.

Your husband's bad evaluation is a very, very strong indication he should talk to his dr.s, show them a copy, and ask them to support his STD and LTD claims. Don't wait until he is fired, were it me, I'd make an emergency appointment and see his neuro or PCP tomorrow.

I would not go into work unless told to do so by my dr.

Please make sure your h's dr.s know about every symptom, he wants to document every hiccup, every ache, every pain.

Please use lower case when writing, many of us have a lot of trouble reading messages in UPPER CASE ONLY.

read up on LTD programs and the law. Do a google search on ERISA ~ disability ~ Multiple Sclerosis. You need to understand how the whole process works and not rely on your employer to explain it to you. (it is not in their best interests to do so.)

I wrote a book that might help

I was awarded long-term disability and social security disability because of my MS and I wrote a book to help others like me, if the forum administrators will ever allow me to show the address to the site.
*****URL REMOVED FROM BOARD DIRECTLY AS PER GUIDELINES. YOU MAY PUT THE ADDRESS INTO YOUR PROFILE*****

Don't get discouraged, my doctor was leery about whether I would qualify for disability benefits, too. Just do your research, and when you get to the stage where you want to file for benefits, contact a long-term disability attorney. It may cost you a couple thousand dollars, but it is well worth it!

They are lining up their paperwork in preparation for terminating him. Go on short term disability. See if it helps him rebound and feel better. If not, phase into long term. Too much to lose here if he tries to tough it out. They're sending clear signals- listen to them.
