    Cane Question

What does everyone do with their cane when they are at a resturant? There is nowhere to put it. The other night my husband proceeded to put it on the floor under our feet but I flipped out thinking how dirty it could be down there.

    Any good suggestions?

    I have the same problem.

Fashionablecanes.com has holders (you put on the upper part of the cane) to rest on tables, etc. and they also have bases (for the bottom of the cane) so it can stand up.

I just haven't got around to ordering yet!

    Hope this helps.

I used one of those bases:

It's a good gadget. Not only does your cane become freestanding, but it's more stable than the regular tip, but not as clunky as a quad cane. Makes dining out, public restrooms and putting on a coat far easier.

Plus, if it does tip over, you don't have to bend over to get it. You just step on one of the "toes" and it comes up to you.

Hi CCL, I have the loops on the ends of all my canes, so can hang them on backs of chairs (when possible), 1 place we used to go out to eat at had a hook by your booth, so I could hang it there. Sometimes I just kinda keep it between by legs.

Now---when I'm at the casinos (yee-hah) I used to put a fold up one in a larger purse and keep it there when I didn't need it. Don't do that anymore, because I found that the regular ones, I buy the offset handle ones with the foam gripper handle are alot stronger.

I either can set it along side my machine, or if sitting at a machine that has a space between mine and the one behind it on the other side of the row- I lay it down there. I always carry alot of wet wipes and a small bottle of hand sanitizer with me and use them alot.

Can't remember ever putting it on the floor, like you, yikes all the germs!!!!!

Also wanted to mention that I've been using a small, 3-wheeled (weighs only 9 pounds) rolling walker most of the time now. It has a nice pouch to put my purse in, and some room for more items if needed.

That's probably why I haven't felt the need to order the accessory.

Not sure of how your mobility is right now, but just wanted to mention that this is very useful. I walk much better with it, and it's very lightweight for taking out.

I still use the cane, occasionally, for short distances, though.
