AFO Price

I got a foot up thing that lifts my foot. I was on the fence about getting it, but my doctor recommended it and sent me to the clinic.

It's nice, but it's not covered... I have a bill for nearly $300. I want to negotiate.

Has anyone had one of these covered by insurance or medicare/medicaid? If so, how much was the "allowable amount"?

Thanks. It will help me negotiate. PS. Should you ever want a piece of equipment, check online first. I can get the same thing by mail for around $75, delivered.

I don't know what you mean by a foot up thing, but an AFO is custom made and thus cannot be ordered on-line. They cost almost $1000 and are covered by Medicare, I got one a couple of years ago. Medicare paid 80% and my supplemental picked up the rest.
