Embarrassing concern--I wet the bed last night.

Ok, so this is the second night in a row. I am 38, newly diagnosed (2 years ago) very early into my MS with very few symptoms.

I was not drinking last night, or the night before. I went to bed at my usual time. Had no more or less liquids than I usually do.

Two night ago, I was asleep and when I started to urinate, the sensation actually woke me up. Last night, it didn't wake me up. I woke up soaking wet. My sheets, blankets, even mattress soaked--from apparently urinating sometime in the middle of the night. I have never wet the bed--even college drinking days--never. It was the most bizarre feeling waking up and having no recollection of going (or of any sort of "Dream" of going).

I have no bladder problems during the day. Can MS bladder problems ever be exclusive to while you are sleeping?

I am nervous to even go to sleep this evening. And gotta tell you, the changing sheets and laundry will get old really quick.
Thanks for reading, and for any thoughts and feedback.
    Warmly,
    Marleigh

Marleigh, I've done this too and I'm only a few years older than you. I've had general problems in this area for more than 10 yrs but the bed-wetting was new.

I began my search for answers w/PCP who tested me for infections. Turns out I had one (didn't know it) but she said this wasn't the source of my problems. Sent me to my neuro who said it was MS related (probable bladder muscle spasms) and sent me to a urologist. He agreed and ordered a few tests. But after I learned the cost of these tests (out of my budget even with insurance) I cancelled the appointments and came here.

I learned that magnesium is a natural muscle relaxer. I take 400 mg 2x/day. This virtually solved my problems within hours!

I recommend taking additional magnesium supplements and having your PCP test you for infections, especially if this is a new sx.

Yes, it is embarassing, but there is a solution.

My best friends are the Poise pads. I tend to leak a little throughout the day. It is common with people as you get older. I went to a urologist. I luckily haven't wet my bed thourology like you did. But I have been getting better. Thank you Whoppie Goldberg for making Poise pads commercials. It's nice to know that Im not the only one.

        An excellent solution is: http://www.drleonards.com/Health-Pro...ce=JUMP_SEARCH

Possibly Cathing before you go to bed, fairly easy and you will sleep through the night with no problems. Maybe, see an Urologist, they can find out a lot for you.

            Me too

I am in Limboland nut have had bladder and bowel problems for a while now. I have extreme difficulty starting to urinate and having a bowel movement even though I had a colectomy. I have begun having accidents at night as well. Both bladder and bowel. And yes Poise have become my friends.

Urinary problems can be complicated. When I had this happen, I had lost the feeling of having to go, my bladder would overfill and then spasm and overflow. I was shocked that this happened two nights in a row. I woke up in a puddle and leaked all the way to the bathroom.

Turns out I did have a bladder infection, good idea to get that checked. I don't always have the typical bladder infection signs.

Whenever I have unusual new symptoms, I always get checked for infections. Even a sinus infection can trigger symptoms for me.

Recommend evaluation by a urologist. Many of us are under the care of this specialist. Mine told me, " you have MS, it will get better, it will get worse." Well, he's right about that!
