Can you have a flare without an active lesions or does a flare represent active lesions?

Last time I had an MRI during a flare, no lesions were enhancing. So I would have to say yes, you can have a flare without enhancing lesions.
My first MRI did not show any enhancement either, and I sure was having major problems.
Maybe I'm just strange.....

not strange, unless we are all. during my flare ups there is no lighting up on my mri's. not sure if it is just not showing, or that the iv steroids work that fast. do you take iv steroids for flare ups.Comment

I've had flares without changes in my MRI's, so I guess you don't have to, and one was a real doozy!Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day that says, "I will try again tomorrow."Comment
