    Amprya???

I am not sure what to do. I am not pleased at the rate at which I walk, but for the most part I can walk from place to place. Coworkers are shocked when I have shared my diagnosis... they never would have noticed.... I am a teacher/Reading Specialist and primarily pull small groups of students to a space at the end of a hallway. Suprisingly enough 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders can walk faster than me.

My part time job (I work when I feel like it) is catering. I couldn't walk throughout the whole 4 hour wedding on Saturday. I could not carry things from the second floor brides rooom or bend over without pain to cut the cake. I was exhaused at the end of the reception, but rested and pulled weeds from the garden once home.

This really bothered me.... would Amprya help with these issues? Despite being a very scheduled teacher... I am horrible about taking meds... the thought of a seizure if I take Amprya too soon really scares me. Would one dose in the morning work????

I have discussed this with my neuro. He has left it up to me. What does everyone think? I see the neuro again at the end of March.

I would say try it. It has helped me greatly. My doctor had me do a EEG to check if I may have a seizure. As far as taking every 12 hours you get a program that works best for you. This drug has given me my life back. I am SPMS and needed a cane or walker before Ampyra. I have not needed them after only 1 month from starting. It has now been 10 months and no side effects.

Ampyra has not only helped my walking issues, but also fatigue, speech, numbness, anc etc. on my walking has not only had my speed improved, also my gait, and balance, I don’t need to concentrate when walking on walking and I use much less energy walking now.

So if Ampyra worked for you, it should help both issues you described. Plus more, walking is only the official possible improvement because walking was the only thing the makers tested for.

To me the threat of seizure has been overblown, but I take it no closer then 11hours apart to be safe.

If you do have bad side effects, you can just stop taking Ampyra and they will go away.

Taking it every 12hrs is a max dosage, so taking it less often if fine.

a lot of people start at only once daily, I do twice daily and if I'm late taking it I'll just skip 1 dosage.

So to me you will be risk temporary discomfort for the possibility of saying “WOW!!!! I have my life back!”

P.S. If you do decide to try it, walk slowly for your 25’ timed walk test.
For the easiest insurance approval you need a time between 8-45 seconds.
This test is done by your doctor at is office.
To measure 25" just count 6 1/4 (4' long ceiling tiles) is a hall way.

Ampyra has given me my life back and hope it does the same for you.
