    check in!

    hello limbolanders!

Looks like everyone is seeing different specialists this week, hopefully some of you can get answers!!!

L2TS, i just had a LP last friday, my dr was really good at it, and had NO problems from it.....it was quick, and not nearly as bad as I had thought!

of course, i was starting a flare...ewww...but it started before the lp....

still flaring, spascisity is a little less....still getting fever, but now, I am going to pcp tomorrow because i cant swallow food, and it hurts like h#ll to swallow liquids... feels like there is a lump in my esophagus...even hurts when i bend over, and spasms even when i am not swallowing...
so i called my pcp(didnt wanna bother the neuro's again) and they said i MUST come in in the a.m., could be "dysphagia"...but they need to check..

yuck, because that sounds like MORE tests...and I just had a weekful.....already needing a spine mri, now what??

what kills me is i just had endo and colonoscopy, as well as upper gi done a few months ago....*sigh*

but, keeping my chin up....waiting for better weather...

JJ, i saw your post in the other limbo....so so so sorry you are feeling bad again!!!!!! I was happy you were having a few good days!!!! i hope they figure you out soon, and when you are done with the housekeeper, can you send her over my way?????lol....

mvm, hope you are feeling better now!!!

good luck to all on the tests/appts you have coming up!
your horse must be fast cuz' you were haulin' ***** when I passed you!!!!

      scare today

Normally going up stairs is not a real problem. Legs shake going down stairs but up they get heavy and tired.
Today going up the stairs to get to my psy-220 class I didn't get my left foot high enough and caught my toe on the step. So I defied gravity and fell up the stairs.
The funny thing my first concern was my laptop. Don't wory my laptop is just fine. I only bruised my ego so everything is ok

        Greg,

Glad you are ok and I can identify with you as my laptop would be the first thing I'd worry about too.

          First Neuro Appt

Didn't get any answers today but got the ball rolling in the right direction. I'll be getting an MRI w/wo Contrast on Brain and Spine next Friday. Neuro was efficient, professional, and thorough in his examination. I did have an EMG which wasn't fun but it did give him some answers I guess.

I mentioned my Sister being DX 8 months ago with MS and he said well "with your SX and your age you deserve to have it ruled out." So leaning that way but only time will tell with the results of the MRI.

I wish you all a Happy TGIF!

I'm wondering if you were given any specific reasons for the EMG, or any explanations of results or anything?

As I await my first appointment at the MS clinic, I got a letter in the mail the other day for an appointment for an EMG and Nerve Conduction test on March 9th. This was the first I'd ever heard of having these tests done.

Of course I Googled (what would we do without Google? ) and found out some general info, but not much that relates it to MS.

barelracer - Good to see you. I hope your PCP can help with the swallowing. I hope you don't have to have more test.

I have swallowing problems and had to have a swallowing test. I can't remember the name of the test. This test ruled out that i don't have reflux and so that is not causeing my problem.

I hope your flare will stop soon. I know not being able to swallow is scary. I hope your vist with the pcp will get you some answers.

I hope some good weather will come your way soon. Keep hanging in there and know that we are here for you. Lots of ((((hugs)))) and thank you for thinking of me. I know in time this flare will stop.

Greg - I am glad that you are ok. I am glad that i am not the only one that has fallen up the stairs.

I am glad that your laptop and you are ok. Take care and lots of ((((hugs))))

concerned40 - I am glad that your neuro is looking into what is going on. I am sorry that you had to have a EMG. I hate that tests.

Let us know how your MRI goes. I am glad that your apt went well and it sounds like your are on the road to finding some answers.

Have a happy friday. Lots of ((((hugs))))

Have a good weekend limbo island. I have my in-laws come in today. They will be here for the next 4 days. I hope i can get so good rest while they are here to help with the kids.

I will chek in later so take care. Lots of ((((hugs)))) everyone.

jomm- I would call your neuro and ask why. I could just be part of your work up or one of your SX could be the reason.

I hope you will find out why you need this test. Lots of (((hugs)))

                  Blood Work

Just got a call from my pcp office. My blood work is back and the doc wants to talk to me about it.

My apt is thurs morning. When I go in there what are the different things I should be concerned about that are in relation to ms. Vit B and D levels are the only 2 I have heard about. Anything else?

                      JOMM,

My Primary actually ordered the EMG due to the fact that I initially passed the in office Neurology test with regard to Motor Skills and he would not permit an MRI to be ordered. It tests the damage to the nerves in my case with my wrist, hand, fingers, etc due to numbness and tingling there. I think it's basically to rule out whether it's a localized problem or something with the Central Nervous System. In my case after several shocking moments I cried "Uncle" and he said well that's enough then.

He then ordered my MRI with and without Contrast on Brain and Spine.

As far as results on the sheet he checked off a Diagnosis of Trigeminal Neuropathy and Radiculopathy/Cervical. Now he wants to see what is causing that Diagnosis if MS or not.

Greg - when I had all of my blood work done, they were checking for Lyme, Lupus, vitamin deficiency, thyroid, iron levels, liver enzymes...all of this was to rule out stuff that could be causing my sx. Hopefully, he is going to report to you that it is something simple to treat & you will be off the island!

I had an EMG just a week ago & yes...very unpleasant! Again, they were trying to rule out the "popcorn popping" feeling in my legs & the tingling & falling asleep in my legs as being a localized problem. It wasn't that. When I asked my neuro, who did the EMG, if that meant the sensations were coming from a dysfunction in my brain, she talked all around the question without answering it. Basically saying that the MRI sometimes shows things that have been there a long time & we can't always tell what they were caused from & blah, blah, blah. Are you trying to tell me , then Ms. Neuro, that all these sx are IN MY IMAGINATION???? Is that why I am on 2100mg of gabapentin just to function????

Sorry...just a little venting I didn't know was in me! Have an awesome Sat, everyone. I need to get busy on my school work before my kids get up!
