    Basic nutritional requirements for good health?

    I'd like to know what are the minimum daily intakes for things such as PROTEIN & FIBER...and the MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE daily intakes for things like SODIUM, FAT, CHOLESTEROL, & SUGARS.....also sources of 'good' cholesterol, and does it matter what TYPE of sugar one consumes, is one 'better' than another?

      The US government, as part of the Department of Agriculture's food pyramid and dietary recommendations, has published some basic information about Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA), Adequate Intakes (AI), Daily Values (DV), Estimated Minimum Requirements (EMR), Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Ranges (AMDR) or Dietary Guidelines (DG) for various vitamins, minerals and macronutrients. It's dry government-type data and not all-inclusive by any means (and many nutritionists don't agree with it), but it's a good place to get started. The table can be found at: http://www.cnpp.usda.gov/Publication...&id=4d472d4227.

        Hi & Welcome to these MS forums, Nesstor.

        I agree with KoKo, you will get more and better feed back on Tara's Nutrition Forum.
        (Likely including from the nutritionist Tara.)

        Sugar type does matter, big time.
        Refine sugars are bad, and natural sugar are OK.

        For Example:
        Corn syrup = Bad
        Sugar in Fruit = OK
        White sugar = Bad
        Honey = OK.

        And switching to spices instead of sugars extremely GOOD, I recommend Penzeys.com for quality and good prices of spices.

        Besides the stuff you listed, there is the Inflammation Factor in foods.
        That is just if not more important then the stuff you list.
        You can learn more about Inflammation Factor and tons of other stuff at NutritionData.com.
