    Question on DH's???

For those of you that have a DH...how do you get one?

Is it expensive? My parents, bless their hearts, are not in very good health and there will come a time when they will not be able to help me anymore.

I just need help at the grocery store and some light housework and some gardening.

I try to do it myself, but the cane makes it hard and some days I just do not have the energy.

Any insight or thoughts, suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks All!!

LOL, when you say DH, for some reason I’m thinking you do not mean (dh = dear husband)

    Is it expensive?
As a DH with MS I most say I try not to be expensive, in fact I pay my own way.
My DW (dw = dear wife) can be emotionally expensive at times, but financially only when romancing.

Not funny- but I did smile when I read your post! If I remember right - DH stands for Dear Hubby - is that correct?

How do you get one you ask?? Well, I guess you have to meet the right person first and have everything click together and you both fall head over heels in love and the rest could be history.

It's good that your parents have been able to help you out. Maybe you could have some help with the housework and gardening by inquiring around your neighborhood perhaps? I know I am leery about strangers ( heard too many stories from my son, who's a police detective).

At grocery stores can you use a motorized cart? And then get drive up service to pick up your groceries? I walk in with a cane, and use a cart to help my balance. The one store I go to has drive up service, but I take a cart to my car to help me walk.

The other one doesn't have this service so whoever packs my food will come out with me and put it in my car.

I have found that people are usually very happy to help you when asked. Sometimes I have asked the store help to please walk me to my car- which is always in a HC place, some dept stores won't let you take the carts out.

Sometimes I have asked ladies to help walk me to my car because of a small incline in the walkway out side the store to the parking lot. Good for wheelchairs, but bad for people with bad balance. Just the other day I got to my car and couldn't lift my weak left leg into the car! Normally I just rest it for afew minutes and rub it and I'm good to go. But that day I was pressed for time, so I asked a your lady walking through the parking lot if she could lift my leg in for me.

This is embarrassing - but you have to do what you have to do to still get out and function.

Hopefully others will respond with some more ideas. Good luck and keep on giving it your all!! Casino

        For some functioning ideas...
Depending on where you live, there are few grocery stores that run delivery services. Our local one does everything, not just dry foods. It might be a little more expensive, but it's worth it.
For gardening, might want to check and see if the state has a master gardener's program. Many of them require service projects to keep certification. They're registered with the state, so it's not just a matter of pulling someone off the street. Plus, it's nice to get someone who knows what they're doing! If they can't help, they might know who can.
If you have a local church or social group you attend, might want to ask there about housework. Especially these days, someone you know might be willing to help out for a little extra money.

            DC

Although my last one passed away a year ago, I've had cats for most of my life. I assume the C in DC stands for "Crazy", not anything as mundane as "Cat"?

Check with your local MS society. Some of them have contact with groups that will help out for free on a limited basis - like spring housecleaning or yard work.

In addition to this, it wouldn't hurt to call your church or a church.

I also was cracking up about the line, "is a DH expensive?" This month my DH sure has been expensive! It's his birthday, our anniversary and Christmas! LOL!

Hang in there, plan for the worst, hope for the best.
