    Out of Hibernation

I can't believe I am looking for answers again. Four years ago I was a mess a mess with tremors, clonus, spasticity, weakness, bladder problems and balance issues. I originally had 5 lesions on my brain (all the right places) and what the doctors considered classix signs - babinsky sign, overactive reflexes, opttic nerve changes, and reaction to heat. I was diagnosed with MS a year later by an MS specialist.

Two years after I made great improvements and my brain lesions were gone. The neurologist was perplexed. She said I should have presented with new lesions and other tests should have been positive. LP and nerve conduction were fine. She said she no longer thought it was MS, but rather a rheumatic disease. I was devestated, not because I wanted MS, but because I needed to know I wasn't crazy.

I continued to do well over this last year, but have noticed problems again. My left leg which never complety improved is weak and stiff again. The worst issue is my right foot - horrible pain and stiff. I have a bad lim

    Hello Jenny

    Welcome!

Gosh, that does sound like a perplexing (but somewhat welcome) situation - all signs and symptoms of MS just disappeared.

Just curious, were you taking any DMD's, or on any type of treatment when the doctor thought you had MS? Also, what rheumatic disease did the doctor diagnose you with?

I continued to do well over this last year, but have noticed problems again. My left leg which never complety improved is weak and stiff again. The worst issue is my right foot - horrible pain and stiff. I have a bad lim

Sorry that you are having problems again. Are these symptoms typical for the rheumatic disease, or is your doctor still not sure about your diagnosis?

I hope you don't mind all these questions. But it is interesting how you were diagnosed with MS by an MS specialist, had the signs and symptoms, and then it went away.

Are you going to see the neurologist for your new symptoms? Hopefully you will get answers for your current problems.

    Take care,
