Effexor XR Anyone else feel more drained than normal starting this med?

I started Effexor a week ago and take one 37.5 mg capsule in the morning. I am supposed to start taking two starting tomorrow. It's making me feel worse than I was. No energy and bummed. Is this normal while starting this med? Probably doesn't help that I had to check my girlfriend into a recovery centre Friday for nine days and the house is too quiet. She has had a pill issue for many years and has kept it well hidden, but is now getting the help she needs. I'm so thankful for my lab, Mia

My DH was on Effexor for a short time. He discontinued its use because he felt like a zombie - always tired and felt like he was on autopilot...disconnected. After a month he decided he was better off having panic attacks than feeling that way. He didn't want to wait any longer to see if the side effects would leave.

No problems with Effexor XL, although I had night sweats and reduced dosage to 37.5. But I wonder if the medicine reduces libido.
