    Ampyra/Ty

Yea-hah- what a day so far!! Which ever med it is or maybe a combo of both- I'll take it!!

Got up this morning about 6:30 and was walking in the house WITHOUT a cane for a couple hours! Felt so good I went to the local Shopko store and could actually browse around without having to feel like I was going to collapse!

Went to the grocery store and still going strong. Got home and still didn't need the cane. My mind felt alot clearer, and I really felt like my old self again. Hey, this is great!!

Didn't get tired getting supper ready, like I usually do. Sure hope this lasts --- would till next Wednesday be too much to ask? It's our anniversary and I sure would like to feel good both mentally and physically.

My walking is really good right now, balance too!! I'm so happy, I think I'm gone to burst!!

    RIGHT ON!!

Good for you! I'm rockin' the Ampyra myself and am QUITE pleased with my progress. I guess one cannot enjoy sweet until one has experienced bitter. Say 10 years worth!
    Have a great anniversary!

It's been afew weeks since I updated how I'm doing- so here goes.

Last REALLY good days were Sept 17,18,19. Been up and down with the walking since then.

Weaker leg still shows improvement with being able to pull it up while in bed and lounge chair.

This past Tuesday I was able to sweep the kitchen floor with better balance and actually use the dust pan without having to hang onto something. (this is HUGE for me)! Balance is still a BIG issue- I think more so than the weaker leg.

I have been keeping up on using my treadmill for doing stretching exercises- usually twice a day. Yes- I do some walking on it too, he-he. I guess I should since that is what it's for!

Other things that I have noticed and don't know which is helping more- the Ty or the Ampyra. These are- warmer showers (YES!!), more upbeat mentally, less afternoon fatigue, more energy - the other week I actually used the scrubber on the carpets!! I try to do this in the spring- didn't this year, and again before the holidays. Guess I'm good till next spring now!!

Also I seem to be able to come up with the words I want to say alot better than before these drugs. Writing has gotten alot better, (can actually read my scribbling !)

I can fix supper without getting as tired as in the past. I still let hubby carry most of the dishes and food to and from the table to be on the safe side! Dropped my salad once- let out a few choice words!!

Yesterday had a appt at the hospital for a mammo and asked my gambling partner to come with me just so I could hang unto her arm for the short walk into the building. Used my cane, but the concrete is on a downgrade and my balance being what it is (or isn't) was glad to have her with me.

Last week I worked really hard on keeping my fingers flexible by going to the casinos! This is true! I do have some weakness in my left hand, which makes gripping things rather difficult sometimes. We can't have that!

The last couple of months I have been doing more walking (in the dept stores). Trying to do at least 1 a week- sometimes I have to ask a clerk to walk me out to my car, (which is always close )use my handicap placard. Some stores don't let you take the carts outside, and I sometimes need them for balance.

I'm sure their are more improvements, but can't think of them right now. I should start writing them down as I notice them.

Hope you all are doing well on Ty/Ampyra. I keep hoping for better balance and then I think my walking will be right up there too. One thing for sure -- I LOVE the improvements so far, and hope they NEVER go away!! Casino
