LP results

My doctor called about my LP results. I am one of those people who has a lot of clinical symptoms.

Optic neuritis and one visible lesion in my brain. Not enough lesions to make a dx based on an MRI alone.

He called yesterday and said it is MS. I was surprised. I was expecting to go on forever with no solid answer.

I was dx'd by an MS specialist 2 years ago without solid MRI evidence. He based his dx on symptoms and the ON.

He retired and I had to find another doctor. The new doctor turned out to be a dud.

Took my MS dx away, told me all women who are 46 have problem with a leaky bladder, and told me I was psychosomatic. I wonder how normal it is for women my age totally lose bladder control while asleep at night.

Told me to go off of my meds because the symptoms could NOT be related to any MS issue.

So I dumped him and went to a doctor a friend of mine has been seeing. First thing he wanted to do was get that LP. I wonder why the other two did NOT do an LP.

So now I have a firm dx and have gone back on the Betaseron.

Ok so I am back off of the merry go round and it looks like I can stay off now.

I wish my problem had been something easier to treat but now I can settle in for the long haul and KNOW I am NOT psychosomatic!!

I thanked my new doctor for doing this LP.

I never thought you were psychosomatic

The LP was what finally gave me my dx, my MRI was clear and with every test that came back neg my neuro got frustrated...He knew I had MS.

My dx was based on that LP, symptoms and neuro exam.

I always hate to say this when someone gets a dx of MS because it seems so wrong but...Congratulations!

I will take that congratulations!! Not for the dx of course, and I know that is not what you meant, but for getting through all of this and ending up with an answer.

On getting a diagnosis I have been in LIMBO for almost 8 years I have been diagnosed and undiagnosed
that is so frustrating. I had an LP yesterday that I am praying will help. Wishing you the best.

I don't know how you have done it for so long. Eight year would be so difficult.

I read your post about your LP. I am really sorry it was painful. Mine went so well.

I had a very experenced doctor doing the LP and not even with the x-ray.

The only pain I felt was a little when he was going in with the numbing and then a bit at the end when I think I was getting a muscle cramp in my back or something.

It was much better for me than sitting in a dentist chair!!
