    Loss of Bowels

I discussed bowel changes with my doctor when I saw her the 1st time: constipation to diarrhea and then normal and then the cycle repeats.

Recently, the urgency has become more and I have 2 bowel movements in the morning instead of 1. Also, today, I lost my bowels. I am at work and so embarrassed even though nobody knows. It didn't come out a lot, just a little bit.

I'm frustrated. My pcp wants me to do yet another MRI before I see the new Neuro. That will make 3 in the last 3 months. I don't see why they need another one.

The MS specialist Neuro that saw me in the hospital called to ask me how I was feeling and wonders why I haven't come to see him yet. He is in the PPO network of my health plan. I have Kaiser Flex Choice but my pcp thinks that seeing more than one Neuro isn't good and is fond of only Kaiser doctors because they use the online system to communicate. I really liked the MS neuro though. He really listened to me and was very honest with me. He talked about things rather than test, test, test, no talk about what one is thinking about....

Sorry I'm posting a lot. A lot of new changes going on.

I'm not familiar with your health plan, but pretty cool that the MS specialist neuro actually called to see how you were, wow! Remember your are in control of who you prefer to see. I get that your pcp has preferences, but your preferences are important too!

Sorry about the bowel problems, hope you can get that regulated, it's really a tough situation.

I agree with you about questioning getting a third MRI. I'd ask what the purpose is?

It's OK to post alot, you are having a hard time. (((Hugs)))

Hi jamilea, no need to apologize for posting often, we want to hear your vents, gripes and questions. I'm always on here airing my thoughts, and asking questions.

I too used to have the "loose bowels"- not any more!! My PCP told me to take four fiber capsules a day and boy that really does help!! Not afraid to leave the house anymore.

Here's what I take--From Walgreens... Walgreens brand, Wal-Mucil, 100% Natural Fiber, Plus Calcium, 240 count. I think it cost $15.99. I have never seen it on sale. It's a white bottle with a purple cap. The label is white, orange and purple.

He told me to make sure I get the right kind of fiber pills, because he once had a lady who bought the kind that MADE her go!

These really do the trick for me!! I feel like I have my life back! I do tend to watch what I eat when out, which isn't often. Greasy foods can still be a problem.

Good luck! Hope it works for you if you decide to try it.

About your MRIs. Wow, every 3 months does seem like alot. If you really like your MS neuro, I would stick with him. Sometimes I think testing can be overdone alittle.

Yes there are advantages of having ALL your docs on the same computer services=physicians portal where they have such easy access.

BUT not all docs can be in the same system. I will be seeing an MS doc who is NOT in that system and she is with another of my neuro's in the same clinic where he can help her with how the two diseases complicate each other.

So.. its ok to have the MS doc. Gee he called you? Wow. Thats a doc I would like. AND see if they can keep the MRIs down..they cost a lot. But they are probably trying to find an ACTIVE lesion which helps with your MS diagnosis.

Your anxious, rightly so..and even that can get your bowels going and going. So.. slow down and breathe..breathe..you are on your way hon.

        Warmly, Jan

          I LOVE YOU JAN

I will tell her that I would like to have my MS neurologist as well as the neuro that she likes. I didn't think that it hurts either to have more than one. Plus, he already knows my case. He REALLY listens to me. He is very calm and gentle and doesn't give me that look as if to say "you are nuts, get out of my office, leave me alone" yanno?

I am sorry that you are going through this. I have had problems with my bowels and have had accidents. I know the feeling.

I hope that you can get it under control soon. I am can't belive that the MS neuro call you. WOW that sounds like a good neuro. It is good to have all doctors in the same network but if you can find a good doctor the i would go see him. My MS neuro is not in the same network as all my other doctors. It all works out and i really like him.

Your really have to like your neuro because you are going to be seeing him for a long time.

((((hugs)))) and i hope you are feeling better soon.
