    doctor recommendations

i am new here and have tried searching the database....no luck. i live in nj by the border of pa by the delaware water gap. i have been told i need to find a neurologist because they finally believe i may have ms....i have only been saying it for 6 years....i don't even know where to begin looking. i do not just wanna find one locally---i want to find one that specializes in ms and not be thrown from doc to doc anymore. does anyone have a doctor they would recommend?

    MS specialist

    Hi,

I live in PA and have a local neuro but when MS was suspected they told me to see a MS specialist.
I don't know how far u r willing to travel but I am
going to Mount Sanai Hospital in NYC.
I think Lehigh Valley Hospital in PA also has MS
    specialists.
A co-worker goes there and has highly recommended
the facility. If interested, I can get his dr.'s name
    this week for you.

      ms specialist

I also live in PA and see a MS specialist at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. He is new to the area but came from the Lehigh Valley. I have seen him twice now and so far so good. A friend of mine who is a MS pharm sales person recommended him when mine left the area. I was diagnosed with MS 6 yrs ago and now he is having me tested for NMO because he feels it needs further looking at because of my MRI's.

He seems to really know what is going on and very caring. Takes all the time in the world with me, is compassionate and I really like him.

When I had my first appt I wasn't sure I liked him because he started questioning my diagnosis. I was not willing to drive to Philly or Hershey so I gave him a second shot. I am glad I did because when I went to see him last week he had all of my records for me to see and explained why he was questioning the original dx and why he thinks it is NMO and had blood drawn. He took a full hour with me while I cried and sort of went off the deep end at that news.

If you are interested and don't mind driving to Wilkes Barre which is about an hour let me know. Otherwise I do have names in Philly from my friend. Good luck!

Call your local MS society branch. They keep lists of MS specialists - but they won't recommend a specific doctor.

The MS Society would very helpful with providing a list of MS Specialists in the area. I am in Philadelphia and have been going to University of Penna. MS Center for two years.

          Take good care!

National MS phone number is 1-800FIGHTMS and they will give you a list of MS doctors in your area. they did that for me 4 years ago when i called to ask for doc's in my area.
