Just Checking Up on You All

    Hi Folks,

I'm just checking in and boy, many are having some severe difficulties, both new and continued, since my last visit. I'm very sorry to learn of these and know that I've made a list of those who are in my thoughts and prayers.

My medical situation has continued to progress leading to the doubling of the dosage of three of my narcotic medications. Oh joy! I won't even go into the chronic sleep disturbance and deprivation. I haven't gone out this summer unless my wife makes me to get me out of the house. Like so many areas of the country, we've been experiencing the high 90's to low 100's in temps with very high humidity.

I have a week in September at the beach timeshare coming up, which will be a dry run for my weeks trip to Walt Disney World in early October. I am very concerned with how I will deal with this family reunion physically. Unlike the cruise to Hawaii, I can't just go to my stateroom and lay down anytime I need to. This trip has been in the works for almost three years, waiting for my grandsons to reach eight and five years old and of course, the obligatory 44 inches in height. Luckily I own my own power scooter or that would be a major expense. I intend to do the same thing I did on the cruise, suck it up, deal with it as it presents and plan on a long recovery once home.

My book is finished and as of this week I will be reviewing the final proof prior to my approval for full publishing and distribution. I will post when it becomes available on the market through Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and any place else that sells books. I have focused five chapters on chronic illness, dealing with it's impact, dealing with doctors, administration, SSDI, and many other aspects. But, keep in mind my sick sense of humor in sharing these experiences and sharing how I was able to cope and get around the system. Oh, in case anyone is wondering, this book was originally for my family as a record and a way for my grand children to learn who I was and what I learned in life. It kind of took on a life of it's own being published, but I have no interests in making money or any of that stuff from it. Honestly, I am happy to share what I've learned for the benefit and to add value to other chronically ill people dealing with their situations.

I stop in and lurk just to try and keep up, and find things happen so quickly. Now that the book is done I hope to have more time to visit regularly.

Wishing you all the best and Peace be with you all.

Good to hear from you, Craig!! Can't wait till your book comes out. I will be sure to buy a copy as I know I will gain some insight and inspiration from you as I have here at MSW.

Good luck on your vacation with family and have some fun!I just got back from a large family reunion myself. The recovery time afterwards is well worth the hugs and love and connection with family. Here's hoping the same for you!

Take care now. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
