Calling all limbolanders-limbo check in 7/12/2011

Hi Limbo Island!! It's time to limbo!! Grab a cabana boy or girl and order something to eat and drink. Grab a hammock and tell us how you are doing.

How has your week been? How are you doing/feeling this week? I hope every one is haveing a better week and feeling better. I know the heat is not helping.

Are there any doctors apts this week? Any tests this week? Any doctors or nurses that need to swim with the sharks? Remember that if you need to scream to go to the middle of the island. Remember that you never scream alone.

In island news - Welcome to all our new limbolanders. Be careful in the heat when you go out.

If you are undiagnosed then this is the place for you. Come and tell us your story. The island is waiting.

A big thank you for all your get well notes. I am feeling better. I am up and walking and was able to drive today. I did end up getting thrush in my mouth. The doctor told me it was due to the antibiotics they gave me during surgery. It is now gone and i can eat agin.

My right leg has been feeling ok. Lots of spasms but not stiff. All the other SX are still quite. I hope they stay that way for awhile.

Lots of (((((hugs))))) everyone and i hope to see everyone on the island soon.

    Mini,

Glad you are better, sorry about the thrush.

No appointments for me other than with the chiropractor. Did hear from my PCM, she wants me to see a neurosurgeon for "whatever" is on my spine.

Waiting on the GI test results.

Trying to be gluten free ... doing a decent job. If it is positive, I will be 100 percent gluten free.

Feeling well for the most part.

That is about it, hot here in Bama so time outside is limited.

    Take Care

MVM so glad you are on the mend and feeling better!

I have had an unreal (seems unreal) couple of weeks. June 22 we had a storm come through and topple a massive oak tree in our front yard. Totaled both of our vehichles and did a whole host of damages most can be dealt with just waiting on insurance to work itself out.

The most amazing thing of it all were my two oldest girls were out underneath the tree as it began to fall. They were completely spared by God's grace! It hadn't started to rain but we could tell a storm was coming and they went out to get their bunnies.....

I believe the reality of the danger they were in has been the most traumatic for me to process. I am just so humbled by God's mercy!

I had surgery for bladder issues last Thursday and seem to be recovering well.

My MS specialist appt is on th 25th....Not sure even what to hope for at this point.

Lastly, all of my children have had a summer cold and looks like I am coming down with it. Yuck! Oh and not to mention it's so Hot I don't dare step outside :~)

Hope everyone has a good week!
        Blessings,
        Lori

          checking in

          Hi MVM,
Glad you are feeling better. From what I hear, thrush is common with surgeries. My mom got it about 3 weeks ago with an endoscopy. Heal quickly!

On another note, I had my appt with the neuropthamologist at Wills Eye Hosp. in Philly last week. I was dx'd with ocular migraines AND optic disc drusen. (waste material from me eyes collect on the head of my optic nerve and causes the visual issues.) no treatment is available for the 2nd one, and I am waiting on results of an ultrasound to confirm. (ultrasounds on the eyeball are so gross and weird! lol)

I have an appt next week with a new neuro. I got a new job back in April, and the hours of my new one aren't convenient anymore and they are too far away now as well. I am hopeful that I may get some answers with a fresh opinion on my history; however, deep inside of me I am thinking- "what's the point?" I am starting to lose my faith in doctors. =(

I had something strange happen to me tonight, and I think it is all related. I went down to shore (NJ) this past weekend and *gasp* spent two days on the beach with the little ones. Today, I drove home from work (no A/C in the van) and by the time I got home, my left hand had curled into itself. I passed out on the couch for about 3 hours, and woke up more stiff and "electric" than ever before. I hope I am not overdoing it. Anything like this happen to you?

Like I said earlier, glad you are better. Have a great week.
          ~Christina

            Update

            Hi all,

I had an EMG/nerve conduction study last week--I don't wish that upon many people! I returned to my neuro this week to get the results...negative for any motor neuron disease

Neuro believes that all my sx are related to my cervical stenosis and wants me to get surgery ASAP. However, when I talk with the neurosurgeon he thinks there is something else going on causing all of these sx. So, I am trying to get scheduled with the neurosurgeon to see about surgery and see if it alleviates my sx.

On a positive note, my neuro did rx Clonazepam for the muscle spasms I have.

            Sending my best to all.

Glad you're back and doing well, Ava. We missed you. Sorry about the thrush. That had to be aggravating, but it does sometimes happen with antibiotics. Continue to take it easy. Full recovery from that surgery can take up to a year, so pamper yourself every chance you get.

As for me, I have a VEP scheduled for 2 p.m. tomorrow. I don't want this test and am only doing it under protest because I don't think the results will be different from the same test I had in October. My MS specialist and my neuro-ophthalmologist seem to have a difference of opinion as to whether mild ON that occurred a year or so ago can cause a VEP to be abnormal or not. While they fight it out, I'm ending up having to pay for another test which will be normal again.

Also, I got way overheated yesterday when the A/C went out in my classroom, and I'm still feeling it today. I'm shaky, nauseous, exhausted, and have a headache and my vision is still blurry. I've called in sick to our staff meeting, and will probably not be going to work tonight either.

Hope everyone else is well. Stay cool in this heat! Hugs and prayers for answers for all of us.

              Lisa
Joy is not the absence of suffering. It is the presence of God.
Cut aspartame from my diet in 2012 and my symptoms have slowly disappeared. Interesting!
