    Transferring

    I have been in a wheelchair for 5 yrs now and have been transferring. After breaking my leg twice in 6 months, lost muscle strength. I did purchase a Hoyer Lift when the cast was on which I use to get in and out of bed.

    What do I do for the toilet? I know when it is time to go, but it is getting hard transferring from my chair.

    Anyone have suggestions or who does one talk to about this?

    I don't have any specific suggestions, except to say that an Occupational Therapist could help you figure out what would work for you. You could try posting in the "Occupational Therapy with Susan Dorne" forum...

      Time to get a grab bar installed. They are a tremendous help in transferring.
      Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day that says, "I will try again tomorrow."
