I got the phone call yesterday morning from my Rheumatologist informing me that she had my MRI results. Mind you I just had my MRI the day before, so I knew something showed up. She went on to say that there were multiple lesions that were concurrent with MS. I shouldn't have been as shocked as I was considering I was checked for it about 5 years ago, but it was like being punched in the stomach. I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis and Fibromyalgia a few years ago, now I don't know if I was misdiagnosed or if I have both. I was too upset to even think to ask that question. I go to a Neurologist in a few weeks, I'm more than ready to get some answers and get started with treatment. I'm relieved to have a diagnosis but terrified of what's to come.

I was misdiagnosed in the past too and I understand the frustration.
Good to know you have gotten down to the bottom of the problem and can get it managed.

Good luck with your journey - this is a wonderful message board. Take full advantage of the wisdom, advice and experiences here.
Make sure you have a symptom list, med list, and a list of questions you want to ask when you go to the neuro.

Start keeping a journal of sour symptoms - what they are, where they are, how long they persist, strength, etc for you and your neuro to discuss.
Draw up a list of questions like what kind of ms do I have? what should I avoid? what kind of exercise should I do?any other questions you can think of.
Discuss medications with him - he may want to wait on this or may have a suggestion right off.
Contact your local branch of the National Multiple Slerosis Society and ask them for their collection of booklets for the newly diagnosed. These are a good start of information for you.Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day that says, "I will try again tomorrow."

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1996 and was diagnosed with MS in 2009. I wondered if I was misdiagnosed but fibro and ms are different. I only see an MS specialist now. When you see your doctor have all of your questions written down. I know it is such a relief to finally get answers.
Take good care."Irrespective of what happened yesterday or last year, and what may or may not happen tomorrow, the present moment is where you are-always!"
