grain free apple crisp

Grain Free Apple Crisp

Ingredients:

  • 5 honeycrisp apples
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ cup raw almonds
  • ½ cup pecan halves
  • ½ cup walnuts
  • ½ cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp melted butter or coconut oil
  • ¼ cup honey or maple syrup

Equipment:

  • Food processor
  • Kitchen knives
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cutting board
  • 8×8 glass baking pan

How to:

Slice the two “cheeks” off each apple, then slice the two sides off the core. Slice each piece in ¼ inch slices, then in half. Place in a bowl and toss with the cinnamon and lemon juice. Pack evenly into oiled baking pan.

If you have a 3-cup food processor, place all the rest of the ingredients in it. If a 2-cup, place just the almonds and pulse for a few seconds until they are in pieces, then add the rest of the ingredients.

Pulse until a ball begins to form. Stop before it turns to nut butter!

Use your fingers to spread the crumble evenly over the apples. Bake in the center of the oven for 40 minutes, until the top is toasty brown and apples are tender.

Cool and serve with dairy-free ice cream or whipped coconut cream.
