Question about the immune system in MS

I got to thinking about a previous thread about the flu. I rarely ever get a cold or the flu and I kind of remember reading or hearing that those of us with MS have an immune system that "runs faster". Not sure what that meant. But at the time I discussed it with someone I was told that our immune systems fight off things better. Of course now, I wonder about that theory. But, in the near past, I have been told something like that over and over by different folks who seem to "know" stuff better than I do.

Can anyone give me a good explanation about our immunity involving MS? I feel like I've got bad information along the line.

That's a really good question, Marti. I'm not science-y at all. I hope someone who understands it can answer in simplified language so that we can all understand better.

Seasha's response (post #63) in this thread gave an explanation that partially speaks to this.

I also wonder about our meds. I assume that my copaxone may put me at higher risk because it suppresses my immune system.
