    Intoloance to cold?

    I have always had trouble in the summer with heat and humidity but now that it is winter I am finding that no matter what I wear I'm always cold. I have the thermostat set at 68 degrees, wearing a sweater and a sweatshirt yet I'm still cold. Does any one else experience this as well?

    Oh yes, I do! In fact, I could have written what you said myself. Cold makes my leg spasticity go into overdrive - heat and humidity turn my legs into jello.

    I also have Reynauds so there is a small window of temps where I am comfortable. Layer upon layers work for me.. I also have a flax seed pillow that I heat up in the microwave that I snuggle up with when it's cold. I even sleep with it.

    Also doing some exercising helps to get my body warmed up. Keeps the circulation working as it should be.

    Hope you find ways to keep warm!

      Thanks Seasha for the advice, I do some of mt PT exercises and usually keep moving in the earlier part of the day however it is usually after dinner time when the "bone numbing" coldness sets in. I'll look into a flax pillow.

      Wouldn't be great if it was always early spring of autumn?

        Wow! That's the time it hits me hardest too! I put on my fleece bathrobe after dinner to keep warm. I am thinking that blood is directed towards the digestive system which takes away from other parts of our body. As I age, it has become worse.

          Indoors never bothered me, but this year I'm having to nudge the thermostat higher and higher, in addition to being bundled up. I've relied on hot water bottles for years, but maybe I should I check into some flax seed pillows...

            Just getting up and walking or moving around warms me up quickly.

            It takes so much effort and energy for me, that it generates body warmth.

              Me, too! I had heat intolerance first and now have it to cold, too. Being less mobile and in a wheelchair, once my feet and legs get cold there's not much I can do to warm them up other than sit in front of my spaceheater. Cold doesn't help my spasticity, either.

              I asked my MS Specialist about it and she said it's because of a lesion on my cervical spine. Wierd thing is once I developed cold intolerance, my heat intolerance moved up a couple of degrees.

              My window of maximum comfort is between 70 and 80 degrees now.
