New way to assess brain?

Have any of you had the newer scan that assesses how your brain is actually doing vs just looking at lesions? Is it something you think I should ask for at my next appointment? I stopped Copaxone and haven't had a relapse or new lesions. But all the recent talk about the new way of looking at MS brain health has me wondering if I should at least monitor that.

Are you talking about a functional MRI? I am not sure how available they are. Most of the studies I have seen referenced a 7t machine vs the 1.5t or 3t machines that are in most hospitals. The studies were usually at MS/educational research facilities. There may have been some on 3t.

The usage of them is still evolving. Also not sure how/if insurance covers.

It can't hurt to discuss with your neuro. The worst is the doc says no. If it is an option, check into your insurance coverage so no surprises.
