Is there any 'news' from Dr. Sadiq's stem cell therapy trials?

Hello everyone . I've been following the clinical trials that Dr. Sadiq is doing at Tisch MSRC in New York City . I read a small report in the Lancet, this week. The Phase 1 trials seem to have proven safe . Anyone know any other 'news' about this ?

    Hi JerryD

From a March 11, 2019 article on the NMSS website:

The National MS Society has committed $1 million over three years to help support a Phase II clinical trial of stem cells in progressive MS. The trial is being led by Dr. Saud Sadiq at the Tisch MS Research Center of New York, and follows a Phase I trial at Tisch MSRCNY that suggested the procedure was safe.

The Phase II is a placebo-controlled trial that will involve 50 people with progressive forms of MS. The stem cells are derived from participants’ own bone marrow stem cells. The cells are expanded in the laboratory, directed to develop into specific cells called Mesenchymal Stem Cells-Neural Progenitors, and infused into the spinal fluid in multiple doses.

Thanks for responding, KoKo. I've been wondering about the physical changes to the patients from the Phase1 clinical trial. I think I have read that some patients have seen improvements in locomotion, bowel and bladder control. I can't remember where I found that info. Have you seen any of this reported ?

I don't recall seeing any results from the Tisch trial, Jerry.

I'll investigate though, and see what I can find.

The results you found look pretty good to me!

          Hi JerryD!

Wheelchair Kamikaze had a great interview with Dr. Sadiq regarding the results of Stage 1. You can read them both here: http://www.wheelchairkamikaze.com/20...diq-tisch.html

Tisch has also published the Stage 1 results. You can read about it here: https://www.tischms.org/phase-i-stem...lished-results

Stage 2 should be starting in the next few months. Hope that helps!

Thanks for finding this info, Deela (you saved me some time, as I was going to look for the results).

Isn't it interesting that MSworld.org, a major source of MS information for Ms patients and their caregivers, has little to nothing to add to the Dr. Sadiq's stem cell therapy story. No thing about the condition or outcomes of the 20 patients, all of whom were hand picked for the study from the patient list of the IMSMP. What gives?
