MS & Cancer - Personal Histories

    Dear Mercadies25,
I hope your test results have come back OK. You are in my thoughts.

More than 5 years ago, several of us had breast cancer and contributed our stories in a series of posts called "Breast Cancer and Me." It was a life-changer for each of us to have two serious illnesses together. But I know I am a survivor. You have learned so much already and can be too. Here are the links:

You can probably find all these by Searching the Message Boards for Breast Cancer also. Good luck to you.

    Stay lifted,

      How did the appointment go?

I don't understand how anyone could not "do it"! I never would have had chemo (twice), radiation (2 kinds) and 2 surgeries if I didn't believe that each of them was necessary to keep me alive and that I had a reasonable chance of that life being worth living. I really don't believe in any kind of afterlife, so that last part is important.

Also, my kids were 4 & 7 years old at the time of that first cancer and I (not surprisingly) did not consider the parenting job finished. I couldn't bear to 'abandon' my dear wife with them, either.

Anyway, it always bothers me a bit when people praise my 'strength' or 'bravery' when I mostly feel like I've just been doing what needs to be done. I appreciate the thought, but I'm mostly embarrassed by the idea...

Maybe I'm just evidence for that thread on optimism!
