    1. Average of 1600 steps per day.
    2. Exercise at least 4 times out of 7 days. Silver Sneakers, Wellness Center, PT, chair exercises or something else.

    Thurs - 1491 steps
Fri - 1481 steps, chair yoga on Youtube
    Sat - 1554 steps
    Sun - 1941 steps
Mon - 2573 steps, recumbent bike at Wellness Center
Tues - 2481 steps, Silver Sneakers
Wed - 1657 steps, chair yoga on Youtube

    Total = 11,624 = 1,661 average

    Next week: Same goals

Yes; I forgot to mention that we do use glass containers ( or silicone or stainless steel), we got rid of teflon, non-stick cookware and have been using cast iron on the stove or glass or baking sheets in the oven and we quit using the the microwave. And, the update is that we decided to replace cooking utensils with all stainless steel ones; Dr. G says that if it's heated, it shouldn't be the plastic/acrylic ones. Oh; and for silicone. We use it only for food storage. Although the current guidelines claim that it is safe at temps up to 500F, Dr. G wonders if they'll find out, down the road, that it's not safe, so we don't use it in the oven.

      Made Goals

      Hi everyone

Well I was a bit too hasty when I changed my goals for this week. I guess my confidence was a little shaken.

I was able to do my 5 walks @ 30 min each with no problems.

Also ~ up on feet and active 4X a day @ 30 min each, and stretches.

Keeping very cool is imperative for me!

Mamabug ~ great job on making your goals!

Wishing everyone a nice week, with plenty of good energy and perseverance.

I only made a partial goal. Did 3 days, not at least 4. Babysat twice and did light housework and grocery shopping. The rest of the time I replenished my "spoons" by visiting with friends.

Did not do any garden work outside where I get my most exercise as our air quality is in the unhealthy zone from the 550 fires in B.C. Canada. Smog caused the sun to turn orange and the smell of smoke was in the air all week. Really bad...

As of today, the air is starting to clear. Will work on 4x for next week.
        Good job Mamabug and KoKo!
A healthy and productive week to all!

          Made Goals

Thu - 6573 (volunteer work 1 hr and DH doctor appointment)
Fri - 9186 (volunteer work 3 hrs and chicken feed to bins)
          Sat - 10087 (volunteer work 7 hrs)
          Sun - 8882 (home repair 3 hrs)
Mon - 7403 (home repair 1 hr, volunteer work 1 hr)
          Tue - 5179
          Wed - 5392

Walked over 5K steps on all 7 days and averaged 7529 steps / day .
This past week was my busy week with volunteer work - now I can space out the work until next month. I expect that my steps will suffer for it, but since the weather has become nicer (lower temps, humidity and dew points) I should be able to get around to some much needed outdoor tasks. I will keep the same goals for next week (5K steps on 5 of 7 days or average 5K steps daily).

Seasha - Great week (especially considering the air quality) ! I know that there is no place that you would rather be than outside, so now that things are clearing up I'm certain that you will meet your goals this week. Shopping and babysitting don't get enough credit IMHO - they are WORK ! BTW- great use of time replenishing your "spoons".

KoKo - Awesome week ! Glad to hear that you are 'back on your feet' again . I noticed early in my MS journey that fall and spring were my worst times and even narrowed it down to the changes in temps. Guess that we sometimes have to relearn what we already know?

Mamabug - Great week ! Hope that you are somewhat settled in with new cookware in place and old stuff packed away. I am sure that was exercise just doing that!

          Wishing everybody a great week!

              Thanks msgijo.

I definitely have relearned that just because I might not feel too warm, it doesn't mean that my nerve signals feel the same way.

Going to try not to complain or whine about "having to be cool" to maximize my motor abilities.

I got to thinking about how many persons with PPMS would absolutely love to have my problem, if it would mean that they could walk, or stand up on their own, or even have a functioning arm or a leg.

All things considered, I'm still very fortunate at this time.

I am sorry that you are stressed in your own home . That makes everything worse - not having a 'haven' to retreat to. Maybe you can use packing away and un packing on a light day as a "something else" exercise.

Maybe Dr. G would accept that as a de-stress exercise in place of one that he suggested? Maybe sub out the coloring with clearing away clutter?

I hope that things settle for you soon .

Hubby and I plan to work together this weekend to clean things up. We also purchased an oak table and chairs a couple of weeks ago and haven't moved our old table out yet so that's extra clutter. DD and family are coming in about three weeks for a visit so we have to get organized.

And Dr G says I can choose some of my own activities; I had an appointment today.

Sadly, we can probably assume this about a lot if things.

I'm late in checking in. It's been a challenging week since the last check-in, but I can be marked down for "partially met goals". Here it is almost time for the next check-in and I'm sure I'll have the same thing to say. But, I always do my best, so no worries.

Keeping my goals the same, except I think I need to cut myself a little slack and say "at least 4 out of the 7 days". Is that cheating?! Or just being realistic?!

Love to all; I'm so thankful for this site.

Not officially diagnosed due to non-MS-specific spots on MRIs, but the neurologists all agree it's MS.
Frustrated. January 2019: finally saw an MS specialist worth seeing. Maybe we'll get to the bottom of this.

I don't think cheating is possible. We set our own individual goals. We do our own reporting. We accept "flexible" reporting. We can alter our goals when we need to.

We're just here to support and encourage each other. I'm currently cutting myself some slack too. And it's not unusual for me to meet only a partial goal. I still know that I am likely doing more than I would if this check in group was not here.

                        Thurs - 16748 steps, 7 flights
                        Fri - 7241 steps, 6 flights
                        Sat - 14263 steps, 0 flights
                        Sun - 16142 steps, 0 flights
                        Mon - 9954 steps, 0 flights
                        Tues - 11374 steps, 0 flights
                        Wed - 6043 steps, 23 flights

So I didn't meet my step goals on 3 days, failed on flights 6 days (that's a repetitive negative).

Averaged out over 7 days I get 11681 steps and 5 flights... I'm ok with missing the step goals but the stairs are 30 feet from my office and 10 flights takes very little time.

Nice job everyone and what a great attitude to have KoKo.

They should help us move our extra table out and get our things organized? Actually, they used to request tasks to help us with every time they came. My tasks -- because of my disability. Hubby's tasks -- simply because, sometimes, they'd see things that needed to be done that weren't priorities for him but I wanted done (ie: cleaning out his shop, painting the garage, etc).

The last two+ years, though, although they'd probably be willing to help, they simply have less time because they are now parenting a two-year-old and a baby.

But, we did get the table moved out and lots of the new stuff put away and empty boxes outside cluttering the back porch instead of the house. Hubby is taking next week off so I can re-claim the den. In past years, it was a den and a playroom for my nephews when they came over and a spare bedroom with a hide-a-bed. Hubby still uses it as his computer room for work. (I use my desk in the dining room.)

We haven't needed (or been able because there is not enough space to open it) to use the hide-a-bed in recent years because we have a spare bedroom downstairs and a small family room where we keep a crib and they can set up an extra playpen. But the toys are hard to get to in the den because hubby's job involves lots of techie stuff (extra printers, computer parts, etc) and it's become sort of a work room / storage room for him. What bugs me about that is that he has a 1300 sq ft shop and garage in the back. There is no room to park a vehicle in there, because it is full of things that "we might need someday". He has finally agreed to try to move his work space out there, so he has to purge it of some the junk that he is attached to and has not used for 25 years. Yay! I get my house back.

OK; sorry for the rant. I'm looking forward to having that room back.
