Weightloss Checkin Group: Weighin For 7/26/18

Hi Everyone. I am in my new location and feeling disoriented and homesick. My son and his wife are being wonderful and imagine I will adapt in time. All of the turmoil really did affect my weight, at least that is the excuse I will use. My son and his wife eat like birds and both are very slender. They eat sparingly and if I follow suit I should have no trouble getting down to my goal weight once again. I am proof positive that life changes can impact weight often for the worse.

All of my turmoil has done me no good. I gained a whopping five pounds. I will try to bite the bullet and lose a pound. I am on steroids so it will be very hard.

Agate, that’s positive that you again stayed the same. Good luck in your plan to lose more.

Mamabug, nice loss. I have every confidence that you will get back down to where you want to be.

Hsmaldo, good for you for losing. Sorry about the confusion in scores last week and hope you will show a loss again this coming week. I admire your perseverance as busy a lady as you are.

Msgijo, what a loss! Congratulations. I hope your new meds won’t result in a gain.

Poohb3ar, sorry to miss you and hope all is well. I hope the season is treating you well.

For those who may have an interest in joining our dedicated group, our members each have their own personal methods of weight loss. Some are on Weight Watchers, some on Atkins for example and some just cut calories. I personally lost quite a lot of weight in the beginning using Atkins and then just cut portions while eating everything. The method is not the most important thing, it is staying focused and following the plan.

We post weight loss, gain, stayed the same, from Thursday to Thursday and have been doing so for over 16 years. We are truly dedicated to get rid of those pesky pounds and keep them off. You don’t have to state your actual weight. It’s a matter of choice.

    Tip For The Week:

Please forgive me. I am too exhausted to write a tip this week.

    Weight Loss Results:

    Total Loss:

7.6 pounds by three members. What a terrific week! This is truly an inspiring week. Let’s hope we can keep it going.

    Total Gain:

5 pounds by one member. What a lesson in what not to do. May you all be spared such indignity in the future.

    Stayed The Same:

1member. As we know, staying the same truly is success, including for those who are maintaining. Just keep remembering it is the time before the next loss if you have more to lose. Also staying the same is a signal that you are eating the right amount to maintain your losses. I believe this is the most Stayed the Same at one time.

4118.6is the total weight loss for the past 16+ years. We hit a new milestone. We now have lost over two tons for which we should be proud. That truly is phenomenal.

    Lost 1.2 lbs

    Recent weights:
    07/26/18: 134.0 lbs
    07/19/18: 135.2 lbs
    07/12/18: 136.2 lbs
    06/21/18: 136.4 lbs

My "no wheat, no dairy, no added sugar" diet that my functional medicine doctor has me on has seemed to continue to help with weight loss. I've lost 2.4 lbs in about a month, even though I was on vacation for 10 days of that.

Karen, I'm sorry about your weight gain. It takes 3,500 calories to gain one pound. If you do the math, surely you did not eat an extra 17,500 calories in the week that you gained 5 lbs. (That's an average of more than 2,000 extra calories per day.) My guess is that, sometimes the scales and the "math" don't mesh, especially during stressful times. Even if you overate somewhat last week, probably much of those extra pounds will fall off.

I hope that your new surroundings will soon begin to feel like "home".

      Gained 2.8 pounds .

      7/17 123.0
      7/26 125.8

And I really didn't eat too badly - yeah we had chinese one day so I had soy sauce (sodium) but have not had sweets or junk foods around to snack on. Other than too much sodium one day we have been eating good nutritious meals.

I am blaming my gain on the Thyroid medicine. I have started having daily headaches and I believe that I am even more fatigued than I was before starting it ( all three are listed side effects). The only positive that I see is that I am sleeping better at night (but want to sleep all day too ).

Mamabug - Excellent loss ! Keep up with your diet and you will see your goal weight soon .

ShrinkKaren - Glad to hear that you are now at your new home , but sorry to hear that the getting there caused a weight gain for you . Hopefully things will stat feeling like home to you and you can settle into a routine again soon. It is good that your son and DIL eat in a way that will encourage you with your weight loss. Maybe the two of you can brainstorm some ideas that will give each of you something new to try and make dieting a little less boring (dare I say a little fun?).

Agate - Way to go ! The only thing better is to lose a couple of pounds, but I do so love knowing that somebody can actually stay the same weight from week to week!

Hsmaldo - Good loss ! I hope that you get your medicine situation straightened out soon. It certainly makes it easier to loss weight when you aren't feeling down all the time!
