I recently received The Motivator magazine put out by MSAA (MS Association of America) and most of the magazine's theme is devoted to the newly diagnosed. Finding Direction When Newly Diagnosed can be found here- https://mymsaa.org/publications/motivator/

Scroll down to The Motivator Winter/Spring 2018 in red.
It has so much to offer about the basics, treatments, symptoms, employment and so much more!

I urge those of you who are newly diagnosed to read through this issue!

I remember when I was newly diagnosed. It was 19 years ago, but still fresh in my memory. I tried to educate myself on all things about MS as I knew nothing about it! I also found that sharing with others and having their support helped me tremendously. I read as much as I could at the time.

One thing however was lacking- information on the emotional toll it spun me through. In a way, I was somewhat relieved to finally getting a dx after 10 years of waiting,, but still I was fearful of what the future held and went through a period of serious grieving. I found help with a trained mental health therapist. I can;t say enough about how this helped me and I recommend seeing one if life seems too hard, confusing, depressing or anxious ridden to bear.

I found this article from the NMMS about the emotional changes we go through that I recommend for those newly dx or even for those who have lived with MS for awhile now. I wish that I had found something like this so many years ago. It's another important aspect of living with MS that sometimes gets overlooked by our neurologists and doctors.
