    Exercise Check-In for 03/08/18

Seven people checked in this week.

    GOALS REACHED:
    Five made goals.

    GOALS MISSED:
    Two made partial goals.

    OTHER:

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words and your encouragement.

My MS Specialist strongly believes that exercise helps to delay progression in MS, especially aerobic exercise. The recumbent bike that I do at the Wellness Center and the Silver Sneakers classes count. My Silver Sneakers instructor believes that it is the coordination required in aerobic exercise (as compared to strength training, where coordination is needed less) that uses our brain in helpful ways.

    For new Exercisers:
Feel free to join us. You set your own goals. You can keep the same goals week-to-week, or modify them. You decide if you accomplished them. Check in once a week to let us know how you did last week, and to set goals for the following week.

    These were my goals:
    1. Average of 2,000 steps per day.
    2. Exercises at least 4 times out of 7 days. Silver Sneakers, Wellness Center, PT or something else.

    Steps:
    Th- 2038 steps; Silver Sneakers
    F - 833 steps
    S - 2017 steps; Wellness Center
    S - 2575 steps, pool
    Mon - 1301 steps
Tue - 2629 steps; Silver Sneakers
    W - 1602 steps
Total: 12,968 steps; average 1852 per day

I almost made it. Was tired on Friday, since I still wasn't 100%. I could have made it if I'd done more on Friday. So I feel OK about getting close.

    I'll continue the same goals.

Goal is >4000 steps/day on 4 or more days with an average of 3500 steps/day.

      Made my goal .

      Fri - 3347
      Sat - 6411
      Sun - 6882
      Mon - 5429
      Tue - 5531
      Wen - 6241

Walked over 4K steps on 6 days and averaged 5542 steps / day.
It was still a slow week - I did more phone calling and form filling out than anything . Today and tomorrow I will be getting together paperwork for taxes - UGH!

      I will keep same goal.

Wow msgijo - you go girl!

I didn't make my goal for 5 out of 7 days. Worked hard on 4 days, but I only got 4-5 hours of sleep two night in row which set me back. Had a nice time reading and taking naps though

I think I'll go back to 4 out pf 7 days for next week.

        Keep moving everyone!

Thankfully I Met all of my goals.

With great effort made all my goals. I had to do a make up day because I didn't get it done on my regular day. Sadly I have had to reduce my weights for leg lifts from 5 pounds to 2.5 pounds. I just could no longer lift the 5 lbs. beyond a couple of inches. I am even having trouble with the 2.5 lbs. I know the hand writing is on the wall, my ms is continuing to get worse and there is nothing I can do about it. I will keep up my exercises as best I can.

Mamabug, good going. It sounds like you are doing great at the Wellness Center. Keep up the good work. It will continue to pay off.

Seasha, sorry about your sleep problem but it sounds like you did o.k. in spite of it. Hope you sleep better this week.

msgijo, good for you for doing all those steps. I am truly impressed. Good luck with your taxes.

          Best to all, Karen

I made goal. I rode bike 3 days and more house work. I came down with a bad cold, I am starting to feel better. I forced myself to exercise. If I wasn't part of this group, I would have used my cold as an excuse not to exercise. So thanks everyone.

Mamabug, I know you were also having some cold sx's. Are you feeling better. You had a great exercise wk.

msgijo- Great job walking so many steps.

seasha- 4 days out of 7 is a great work-out. Hope you catch up on your sleep.

ShrinkKaren- Good job . I am sorry you are having difficulty lifting you leg weights and I hope you gain back more strength.

                Made Goal

                Hi everyone

Made goal - 30 min up on feet (with rollator) 4X a day - standing, walking, or doing activities. Thankfully, once again I was able to walk for 30 min on 5 days during the week (slow walking).

                Great effort from everyone!

Wishing you good energy and enough strength to persevere.
