    Early ms symptoms

Has anyone else presented, early in their MS journey, with symptoms of numbness and tingling in the feet first and then that numbness and tingling advancing throughout the day to the legs, hands, arms, and face?

    Hi Joyous,

Have you had any testing done for Multiple Sclerosis?

It could be due to MS but it could be due to numerous things. There is no symptom exclusive to MS.

My left foot was the first abnormal symptom I started paying attention to. It eventually progressed to the entire left side of my body but took a little longer than a day. maybe 10 days-2 weeks.

After diagnosis, I connected the dots on the months of fatigue and the recent bladder incontinence.

Does this happen each day or is this how the numbness progressed for you, all in one day?

If it happens each day, it is unusual for MS. But sometimes fatigue can worsen symptoms as a day goes on.

It is also unusual to have bilateral numbness and multiple extremities and face as early presentation in MS.

            yes

2004 numbness in hands and feet... Neurologist ordered a nerve conduction test... will NEVER EVER do that again.

2011 went blind in right eye from optic neuritis. THAT got my attention. I was ignoring everything until that happened.

              Thank you!

I cannot thank you enough for responding! I had optic neuritis in '92. The numbness and tingling took place in 2000. It left me with peripheral neuropathy. I have had balance problems for years. At present I do not have a diagnosis of MS. I will be seeing my new Neurologist in October. I also see a (new) Rheumatologist!! I am about to go into another phase of each specialist thinking that my symptoms are more in the other guy's line of work...which happened in 2000 as well! I DO have Rheumatology issues that are quite serious according to my bloodwork, but, again, I do fear I am starting the back and forth routine once more and am not really looking forward to it! We have a family history of Rheumatology issues AND MS. Aren't we special?!!!! The severe numbness and tingling took place all in one day in 2000. Again, I was left with peripheral neuropathy. I am wanting answers! This has been going on for a lot of years now. Maybe I will get some definitive answers soon. In the meantime I will keep treating myself with supplements!!!

Bless you and thank you, again, for responding!!
