    Recently diagnosed

Newly diagnosed this week, was immediately started on three day Solu-Medrol IV doses, and if no started Prednisone for the next 3 weeks. Feeling like crap and can't sleep. My neurologist only recommended one medication to try for Ms remission after finishing the prednisone so I've requested to be sent to a MS specialist. Would like to hear more about other medications and treatment options both holistic and Pharmaceutical.

Hi jmmatters and welcome! Sorry to greet you because of your recent diagnosis however.

I'm glad you are going to see a MS Specialist. They are likely to have more recent information about newer developments as far as DMT (drug modifying treatment) plans. There are so many newer drugs with better efficacy and this is so important!

I'm going to move your reply and have it as a new thread instead of attaching it to the existing one. You will more likely be seen better. Please do check out our Medication and Treatments forums where there are numerous thread about each different drug. https://www.msworld.org/forum/forumd...amp-Treatments We also have a place for information about alternatives to drugs https://www.msworld.org/forum/forumd...nes)-therapies

I hope you feel better soon. I never did too well on steroids myself.
Feel free to explore around and ask plenty of questions - we are here to help!
Good luck with your appt with the specialist.

Welcome. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. And, yeah -- Solumedrol and prednisone have horrible side effects. Not being able to sleep is one of them.

Seasha gave good advice; check out our medication and treatment forums. There is lots of info there. Then, when you have questions about specific meds, come back and ask questions.

I'm glad you have an appointment with an MS Specialist. I started with a general neurologist for the first 5 years. Although I really liked him, my MS was fairly out of control. When I switched to an MS Specialist, she immediately switched meds as the one I was on wasn't effective for me (we're all different). She is also much more knowledgeable and much better at answering questions. I have to drive 3 hours, each way, twice a year, to see her. But, it is more than worth it.

Welcome jmmatters. Glad that you requested to see an MS specialist. There are so many more DMTs now available. Being your own best advocate is really important in managing your MS. If possible, when you see the specialist, take someone else with you to listen and take notes. There is so much info to take in.

          Good luck.
