    pseudo-exacerbation and so on

I was hospitalized to relieve the symptoms of a pseudo-flare about 10 days ago. I received 3 days of IVSM and I was sent to a rehab hospital immediately upon release. I have been in rehab for about 5 days and I am slated to be released on Wednesday, this week upcoming.
Let me say that this has not been a pleasant 'vacation' ! But the PTs and the OTs have given me a lot of sessions designed to help when I, finally, go home. I will have a brace for my right foot which has me severe foot drop . And the PT doctor is recommending a motorized wheel chair. Many changes are in the future. This MS really sucks !

    Hi Jerry

Glad you're finally on the way home this Wednesday - there's no place like home.

Hope your foot brace really benefits you. I use one for right foot drop also, and it has been a tremendous help for lifting my foot, which in turn helps me to lift my leg while walking. It has made a huge difference and also conserves energy.

Changes can be ok, as long as they improve our quality of life.

We just have to play the MS hand that we've been dealt I guess.

I'm glad you will be home soon, Jerry! And glad you got some helpful advise from the PT and OT. Someday I know I'll eventually end up in a motorized w/c or scooter too. But it can be liberating too...an end to the daily walking/falling struggles. Just my take on things.

Hope things work out well for you. Let us know how the brace works for you.

If this was a pseudo-exacerbation, I would hate to read what a real one does to you. Personally, I would consider that a full blown relapse. Are you diagnosed relapsing remitting, or is there a different set of criteria for secondary or primary progressive disease activity?

          Oops.

Sorry, Jerry. I know you're not relapsing remitting; I just responded to the thread without realizing you were the OP. Best wishes on your recuperation.

No worries, Goldfinch ! And to answer your question about Progressive versus Relapsing disease, let's just say that there has been a recognition among the medical community that these two types of MS are alike in some ways and different in other ways. I am sure that I have been properly diagnosed as primary progressive. I have had several MS specialists ! thanks for responding.
