    Gilenya

I was on Avonex for 3 years and was doing well, I thought. Then one of the lesions on my brain had gotten a little larger. My neurologist said to stay with the Avonex. I began having horrible tingling from my forearm to my finger tips and he put me on a steroid taper. The sensations never went away so I decided to get a 2nd opinion from a different MS specialist, who only treats MS cases. After reviewing my MRI, he decided to take me off of Avonex and start me with Gilenya. I have been taking Gilenya now for 4 weeks and I do not see any difference in getting better. I am now experiencing heavy arms and harsh tingling, but only if my body core gets hot. I don't understand what is going on with my body! I am ready to get back to my normal life! So I guess my question is, how long does it take for Gilenya to take effect?! While on Avonex, I never experienced anything like now.

Gilenya slows disease progression it doesn't make you "get better". Gilenya takes about 5 days to start working so if you have been on it 4 weeks it is doing it's thing. As of right now there is no drug to make you get better with MS.

The steroids might help but sometimes there is no better just less bad and that just takes time.
