    Dear Sissy

You have a lot on your plate and stress and shingles too sounds awful! Don't beat yourself up. You have no control of when you are sick.

I missed Christmas entirely three years ago due to MS fatigue and many other stress related problems. I had our whole family there. I couldn't shop. I didn't have strength to cook and I wasn't eating. I just turned the entire kitchen over to family members and somehow they pulled off Christmas.

Please try to get some counseling to help with your stress and treat yourself well by getting an MS SPECIALIST. I think your current Dr is giving you mixed messages. Remember if you are diagnosed with MS, which I hope you aren't, there are many MS drugs DMTs that can slow progress significantly and you can get medication to help with mental and physical fatigue.

It sounds like you have a supportive family and a great daughter who will help you find the Dr. you need. I am glad you will have your daughter with you. She can help you fill out any paperwork the Dr needs. She can serve as a second pair of ears to remember what the Dr says as well as help you explain your symptoms. I am says take my husband with me to Dr appointments.

Don't worry about MS and all its complexities at this point. Just find a Dr who knows what he is talking about!

I wish you all the best and don't give up! There is always hope!
Please let us know how you are doing

Lynn, thank you so much,😳 your comments were so nice! I have been reading up on what you said. It has been most enlightening. I hope my new Neuro is up on MS. He's not an MS specialist but I will have to go to Dallas USWHospital to see one here and that is a long hard trip for my family.

I go on the 22nd so I'm hoping for the best. At least he is only 25 miles away. But if I can't get my old ford ranger running, l will have to get my poor daughter to take off work again. It's hard on her because she is the head nurse at the federal women's clinic and they ae always short staffed this time of year.

This is a very interesting discussion. I would like to stress, strongly, that everyone that suspects that they have MS. should seek the advice and treatment of an MS specialist ! Hands down ! If you must drive 100 miles, you got to figure it out ! And what is this thing ' Benign MS' ? I haven't heard of it, but I am not an MS specialist! Get in to see an MS specialist, period ! Good luck !

That's Ok! Even if Neurologist is not an MS specialist, it is a step forward from the sad treatment you were receiving! The important thing is you are not giving up! Let someone else bake the Christmas cookies.

I just wanted to wish you Merry Christmas. I pray that your Neurology appointment gave you some answers and perhaps comfort.

I wanted to wait until the stress of the holidays was a thing of the past. I remember that you said you were scheduled for an appointment with a new Neurologist Dec 22nd.. Were able to go to your appointment? I know how desperate you were for answers! I have just been thinking about you and praying that you are feeling better. I would like to hear any news if you feel comfortable sharing.

                It might be worth it.

I live in the northeast corner of Texas (Within an hours drive of Okla., Ark., or Louisiana.) I finally was fed up with the horrible nuero here, that did a spinal tap and never sent it for testing, and tried to get in at UT SW but it would have been 6 months before they could see me. So, I went to Scott & White in Temple. It was a 5 hour drive (one way) and a 3 night stay but it was soooo worth it. I was treated for some of the symptoms that my first nuero dismissed as not being MS related. I was also started on a dmd.

With UT SW within a hundred miles, I would definitely try to get in there. My thought is that you need to fire the dr you have there and go where you can get some help. Otherwise you will just continue to steadily get worse. So, take the trip and take care of yourself.

                    Don't give up.

Go see someone else. I have seen 5 doctors and I am only 41. I once had a general practitioner tell me it was a stroke when I first had issues at 21. I found my current dr. on here and I love her.

I did not go to my apt on the 22nd as my ride fell through. I found a new nero in Weatherford and h aid all my symptoms say MS but MRI says stroke! SO I left feeling like I was slapped n face!! I am so sick and tired of all of this!

Now I can't walk or stand more than a few min without being pulled down at the waist into a bent over position and in severe pain! I cant shop or cook without horrible pain, huffing and puffing, feeling like I'm breaking in half !?!

I don't feel like I have anyone to turn to anymore.

Sissy, I am very sorry that you are experiencing all of this! I cannot believe the nerve of your previous neuro! That would have infuriated me.

I understand feeling isolated, lonely and sad even when surrounded by those who love and care for you. I am sending virtual hugs and support your way.

I've been feeling defeated by this disease lately too but we just have to keep fighting. Please don't give up.

Sissy please move heaven and earth to Find a reputable Neurologist specializing in MS. Don't give up! Surely there must be someone on this Forum who can guide you in the right direction. What about checking with a Senior Center or local Churches for help with transportation. I have never experienced any symptoms like you described. I would get as many opinions as you need to find an answer and don't stop until you do...don't give up!

This sounds horrible! I have severe muscle spasms that are painful. My doctor has prescribed keppra usually used in epilepsy with baclofen.

Trust me, I don't want to take either of these meds, but spasms that take over your body requires us to fight.

                              What did your doctor say?

I have another appointment next week. But not feeling hopeful about it. I am having so much problems getting around. I can barely walk more than a few feet before my back is pulling me down! I can't stand up long enough to get anything done. If I can do everything sitting down I'm ok!! LOL that's not much.

I don't have any confidence that I am going to get any answers or help there! I think I'm just going to cancel my app this mo. I can't take another false answer and no help. It's just useless to keep trying.
