    Dan Morris

    Hello, MS World,

I have primary progressive MS diagnosed in 1995 following in the steps of my father with the same disease. Born in upstate New York in 1947 and served in the US Navy as a photographer. As we all know, weather extremes can be very challenging so my wife and I decided to relocate 9 months in Florida and 3 months in Vermont. Next year we will live only in Florida with air conditioning and ceiling fans.

Following a career in geriatric health care we retired at age 49 and enjoy our life before it was to late. Now, unfortunately, transferring is very challenging so we no longer travel.

I anticipate a treatment for all MS patients that will greatly improve the quality of our lives and reduce the burden on my wife of 48 years and my primary caregivers.

I continue to visit the fitness center 3 days each week and smile every chance I can. I'm pleased to be alive.

    Hi Dan,

Welcome to MS World! Sorry for the reason you joined us, and to also hear about your dad. I hope this place offers you much support, along with valuable information. I also hope you take some time to look around and see everything offered here.

Despite having PPMS all these years, you still have a great attitude! That's also great you visit your fitness center 3 x week! I hope there's a treatment found soon that greatly improves the quality of all our lives, too.

That being said, there may finally be a drug treatment option available for PPMS: Ocrelizumab. Details from the clinical trials for both RRMS and PPMS were just presented at the annual ECTRIMS meeting a few days ago. Plans are in the works to submit it to the FDA for approval next year. While it may not be for everyone with PPMS, finally, it's a start.

      Welcome

I also have dx of PPMS - not easy. Welcome to MSWorld - I am a newbie also. My husband and I are also exploring where to live. Now we are in AZ but have family home in MT - Montana still truly feels like home. Also considering healthcare access which is limited in a rural setting. Time will tell.
