Hush Puppies

Ingredients
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 cup self-raising flour
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 egg
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 cup milk
Vegetable oil

Directions
1 Stir all ingredients, except oil, together.
2 Drop by Tablespoons into hot vegetable oil, about 370 degrees, until golden brown on all sides.
3 Drain on paper towels.
