Cathy your post jumped off of the page! I've had the same toe separation happen, but I also have the 'is this arthritis?' question in my head for the last year. I feel about 108 when I get up in the morning, mainly on the left side of my body. Still no definitive answer, though. Let us know if you find out anything, and best of luck!

      Hi,
Just read this thread n thought I'd reply- a bit late.
I can identify with most of the posts. It sounds like spasms i get especially in my feet (a bit like cramping, sometimes very painful sometimes not- maybe due to ms numbness?)
Kmathis: this happened so severely once when returning to my car after shopping that I had to stop & force both feet as flat as possible while leaning on a car to keep balance that someone stopped to help because i was obviously in discomfort, just gave 'cramp' as expl and said thanks.

I have been have a lot of pain in my joints for years now.

It began and is still the worst in my shoulders though i've learned to manage this.
(I have replied to a thread -tendinitis in joints with full info s won't repeat all again)

Suffice to say that all tests were done and arthritis was eliminated. Other than the pain , i don't have any of the other indicators for arthritis.

My hands and wrists are very painful and stiff but is mostly bad after i have carried something (like shopping or hand bag or if i've use the mouse for comp for a while. My fingers get so stiff and painful that i can't release them or straighten.

The feet are similar , if i wear firm shoes it's not to bad while i'm walking but when i take them of or just stop and take the weight off it feels like they've been removed from a vice.
Like some of the other replies i really notice the stiffness and pain 1st thing in the morning. But I have also noticed that I stiffen up and get sore each time I stop for any reason.

It is now assumed that spasticity is causing the tightening and twisting of muscles and these are also affecting the tendons and fibres at the joints and this is contribution to the tendinitis.
All inflammation is a autoimmune response the same as ms so it is reasonable that our wacky system would increase this as well. I take diclofenac for the inflammation but i haven't found it does much. But I do find that avoiding carting the shopping bags by palming this job off on my kids to be very beneficial! N pain meds too yay.

Oh PS I have also noticed tightness and aching in my jaw joint lately. So hubby will be pleased I won't want to talk so much

      All the best.

        It's a miracle!!!

        Just wanted to add something.
Since i last posted about joint pain I've started taking Evening Primrose oil - 1000-2000mg per day.
Within 2 weeks the pain had diminished and by a month - no pain at all!!
I have been seeing specialists, physio's etc and on pain and anti-inflammatory drugs for years for quite nasty joint pain and it's just gone like that!
This may not help everyone with joint pain but if you've never tried it before it's worth a go.
Just thought i'd share. I may have other things gettin worse but it was such a relief not to have to deal with this any more. Hope this may help others.
Has anyone else experienced something like this?
