    About SP

With Secondary Progression, say you get a bout of ON does that mean it will keep getting worse until you're blind or does it mean it will get worse to some degree before the MS decides to target another area of the CNS?

    Hi fatigued,

Do you have a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis?

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic progressive disease. Progression is different for each person. Some have a very slow progression, some progress quickly and some fall somewhere in between.

For someone to be Secondary Progressive they would have been relapsing/remitting at one time. RRMS transitions to SPMS.

SPMS usually means an accumulation of symptoms and more disability.

MS is a disease of the CNS which includes the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. MS can affect anything within the CNS. It does what it wants when it wants and can affect all of the CNS.

Ty for the reply. What I mean is, say you only have 2 areas of damage in your CNS, one in the optic nerve and one in the brain stem, does that mean if MS turns secondary progressive, it will target those areas or does it mean it can still attack the spinal cord?

MS could target the same areas or it can add in the spinal cord. This is true whether you are RR or SP
