Thanks for clarifying, Dave, and sharing this information with us. It's good to know.

I had the two types mixed up. I also saw the Adjuster can have as little as 5 compartments. My guess is the more compartments you have, the more stability of the cushion for things like transfers.

      Hi Diamond,

You can also find anyone's profile by clicking on the username, located on the left above each post inside the blue bar (next to the avatar, if there is one). My e-mail is also in my profile. You might also consider starting your own thread, where it would be more visible to others. We are all here to love (how could we not?!) and support you, as well as offer suggestions!

A stage 4 pressure sore is as bad as it gets, how awful! I'm really sorry and feel so bad for you. I've only read about the wound vac. Because the intense pain is fairly new, has there been any increase in pressure/ length of time it's used/ per day recently? Or maybe you have an infection that is not being treated/ responding to antibiotics? Just some thoughts. But, hunterd might be better able to address any questions you have about your pressure sore than me.

Rebif can adversely affect your liver ... which is one of the reasons you have bloodwork done while you are on it. I recommend using caution in regards to how much alcohol you drink until you talk with your doctor. He can best advise you by looking at your liver enzyme levels from your bloodwork. I'm not much of a drinker, but did have a super occasional glass of wine or wine cooler while I was on it (like holidays/ family gatherings).

Wow. That's some decision you need to make regarding the butt augmentation surgery. Lots of questions indeedy! A big concern would definitely be the recovery process, especially considering everything you are going through right now. The longer you are off our feet, the weaker your muscles will become. The general consensus from physical therapists is for every 1 day of bedrest, you'll need 3 days to fully recover your strength. I wish you the best in your decision, and include your neurologist in that process as well.

Hoping you'll soon find relief and healing from your pressure sore, and emotional healing as well. I can't even imagine how tough this is.

      (((((Hugs))))) and warmest thoughts ,

          wheelchair cushions

sorry I have not checked back in for awhile.
my cushions have been paid for by medicare.
The last kind that I got were roho which are OK to some extent I am always getting air leaks which can be hard to find and once I get one then I really have difficulty keeping it without leaks as I do a slide transfer with a plastic board. one has to be really careful as once the air sacs start adjusting it can make it so you get the front lowered and will make it difficult to finish the transfer into the chair so I keep going back to the cushion with a gel pack for the tailbone. The sides are foam and study enough to allow the transfer and I do not have the maintence of the air sacks blowing a leak.

that was one of the things I have been looking at the honeycombed cushion it is just no one can really tell me how stable it will be during transfers. if I was hitting it straight one I think it would be what I am looking for if one trusts what the companies have to say.

I want to go to the w/c specialist with some ideas of my own
A pressure sore is no fun-- painful. I can not imagine how a large one would be

let us all know what seat cushion you get, and how you like it and if it is effective.

              w/c cushion

              Hi
It is such that I have had my current w/c 5 years so I am going to work on a new one.
It seems the Viciar cushion is going to be the best I have not found much on the Honeycomb ones
The chair I have now has the solid tires and I want to go back to ones with tubes as they will allow abit of give for the bumps. I am thinking of wanting to get one that raises as I Have trouble reaching some things.
              anyone else have any ideas?
              thanks everyone

I cannot help you with that one, I am also in the process of trying to get a new chair. I would not recommend the one that I have now as I have had nothing but trouble with the chair parts.

I NEED a new cushion now....

I have been in my power chair for almost 6 years. It always seemed too deep for me (I have to scoot into it or be pulled up). It has been a great chair though. It reclines and can elevate my legs. My P/T had wanted my to have those features because of leg swelling. I started out with a gel cushion that was pretty good. The worse my mobility got, the more time i spent sitting the worse my legs and butt hurt. Now I can't sit to even go out to lunch or for more than 2 hours. Then I need to lie back and get my feet up. This is not always easy to do. Any advise?
