    Seeking holistic neuro in PA/NJ/NY/Boston

I have RRMS. I started the Terry Wahls diet about 2 years ago. 10 months ago I stopped taking the DMD (copaxone). My health and quality of life have improved at least 75%.

My current neurologist has told me that she doesn't know how to guide me. Without prescribing the medication, she doesn't know how to help. She's not supportive of my decision to stop the DMD, but she will continue to "treat" me provided I agree to MRIs every 6 months. I have no problem with the MRIs but I want something more from a nuerologist now that I have changed the way I choose to live with MS.

Can anyone recommend a neurologist with experience treating MS patients choosing not to take the DMD? I live in PA, but can travel to NY NJ or even up to Boston area.

    Thanks.

    Good for you!
Let me know if you find one.

I am not impressed with my neuro, but there is limited options around here.

He is better than my other options, many are drug pushers and it seems they rate success by the number of meds they can get you on.

The guy I see is alright, he annoys me that he waits until sitting in the appointment to review his notes.

He actually asked me last time ( 3 month follow up) if I had thought any more about going on Tecfidera.

This is the first time I have ever considered dropping him, but the only other one I would go see locally is not taking patients and I really don't want to drive 4 hours every 6 months.

He takes MRIs maybe yearly, went 2 years at one point.
I do get bloodwork done every appointment.

It is hard, I have what 14 years history with this person, but the appointments are so routine I just feel like cancelling.
    1995-symptoms with no cause
    2000-diagnosed with Probable MS.
    2000/1-started Avonex
    2002-Rebif b/c increasing brain plaques
    Nov-13-Tecfidera b/c needle fatigue&sympt

I think you might have more luck looking for a doctor (DO) who does not specialize as a neurologist. Doctors who have a specialty are trained very well in their field. In Western medicine that generally disregards anything that the "other" specialists would deal with. So you end up with a primary, a neuro, an ortho, a PT, an OT, psychologist etc.

If you feel you are having better luck focusing on your "whole" self in treating your MS, find yourself a more generalized holistic doctor to help you out who has some experience in auto immune diseases.
