    Tysabri to Gilenya washout period?

I am JC+ and index of 2.6. I am worried about the washout period. I have had 1 dr. say a 3 month wash period and a top notch Dr say a 2 week wash period.

Don't know which one I should take.

    Hello BJK,

I came off of TY to go on TEC. I had a 3 month wash out. My transition went well.

I hope you do well also.

BJK, I was recently researching this issue and unable to find consistent guidance, which I'm sure is why you are receiving contradicting advice. Apparently guidance varies.

FYI: The patient that developed PML after transitioning to Gilenya from Tysabri had a 6-week washout period after being on Tysabri for 3.5 years.

This was confirmed directly by the patient.

Sorry, I just notice an error in my post. I had 2 month wash-out not 3.

I went from Tysabri to Aubagio with no wash-out period.

No way will TY be out of your system in two weeks. I'd get a third opinion.

I'd definitely listen to the doc who said 3 months! Ty isn't even fully out of the system at 4 weeks, so I'd be questioning a doctor who told you 2 weeks. Something else to seriously consider is that you are going on Gilenya, not Tecfidera or Aubagio. Unlike the other's, Gilenya is an immunosuppressant. Take heed to Marco's post.

                  Best wishes,
                  Kimba
