How to explain to children about MS issues

Hi - I have been a lurker on and off for years.

My husband is the one who has the MS diagnosis (over 10 years now). Our kids are older now (10 and 7) and we have never really explained about "Dad's condition" as it really only manifests itself to them as him needing a daily nap and being fatigued in the evening. I think its time we explain somewhat on his condition. Are there any good articles or books out there that we can read with them to let them know what is going on and why sometimes daddy is not able to concentrate or gets tired ?

    Thanks!

Hi aegmom and welcome to MSWorld! The National MS Society has this link called Keep S'myelin: A Fun Resource for Kids about MS! http://www.nationalmssociety.org/mul...lin/index.aspx. I've heard of parents here refer to this, so it might be just what you want! It looks like they list various symptoms on this link.

    Good luck

MSAA also has a book for children that you can either order or download the PDF file:
        http://www.mymsaa.org/PDFs/Daddys_story.pdf

It is recommended for children up to 7 yrs old, might not be the best resource for the 10 yr old, but worth a look at.
