    Strange Pain!!!

    Hi All,

I have been on Avonex since June 21, 2012. I usually have body aches, tightness and headaches for about 24 hrs.

During the last two injections I have achy, neuralgia type pain that radiates down my left ache. As soon as I inject the medicine in my leg I start feeling the pain in my arm. It last about 10-15 sec but my arm is weak for about 3-4 mins. Then I get my strength back.

I called MS Active Source who had no clue what was going on. I called my MS Specialist, who wants my to be checked for antibodies due to the medicine.

Has anyone had this happened to them?

Well...After talking with Ms Spec. we decided to stay with Avonex for now. She offered to switch me to Tecfidera but I told her I needed to wait. This past week again I had the neuralgia-type pain radiate for my neck down my left arm. I have to make an appointment to have bloodwork done to check for drug-related antibodies which I will do this week.

I check back to give update.

      Hi Apple

Did you also reach out to Biogen? Their support line is amazing. Best that you followed up with your specialist but the Biogen support folks are great. I have been on Avonex since early 2008 and ahd a tough time in the beginning with side effects, which wore off. Recently, I experienced some of those old side effects again -- aches, etc. I called my neuro and we both agreed to stay the course and this was probably a fluke. Thankfully, it was! I will be starting Tec next week (time to change meds, not a result of the aches/pains recently experienced on the Avonex). Good luck and hang in there!
