    used exercise equipment

I use a stationary bike at home. I have found that it helps with trying to maintain my weight and flexibility.

I have a dear friend who needs to reside in a nursing home. She would like to get something similar to a Theracycle. It would roll up to her wheelchair and have manual and assisted peddling.

We have looked into the benefits: endurance, flexibility, weight control, muscle memory, self esteem...

The problem is the prohibitive cost for such cycles: $2,000- $3,000 and insurance isn't accepted.

You can get a discount through the MS Society but not enough that the cycles are an option for someone in her situation.

Does anyone have any ideas for sites or programs for used equipment that is more reasonable or that would be covered by insurance or medicare/medicaide?

    Thank you and Take Care

The Society has loan closets that can have exercise equipment as well

Have you checked the classifieds, Craig's lists, Ebay, garage sales?
Also, some stores have demo equipment deals.

Use the internet and social networks to get the word out.

I will continue to think about possible resources.
    Be Well,
    Susan
