    Helped my son.

My son has autism and is not able to speak. He got an Ipad through the school system last year. It's like I finally got to know my child. I have learned so much about him since he has finally had a reliable way to communicate. Without the Ipad, I would have never known his favorite color (red), that he wants toast for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and that he likes to play jokes.

Truly an innovator. So thankful for all of this technology.

Also, I get called Mom now. I had to wait 5 years for that!

        Gomer A sad day.
Hey, Gomer, I feel much the same way. Perhaps we are showing our age??

Also when developing a treatment/drug they have the start from scratch and not just make a better version of the current treatment.

AND FYI there has been major advancements in MS treatments in the past nine years since I was Dx.
Rebif came out about the same time I was Dx. and now there is a monthly IV treatment, I’m not sure of the oral DMD status, and I know first hand Ampyra that came out last year has changed my life majorly.
Plus with the growth of the internet my knowledge of MS, and diet, stress reduction, exercise importance, to help me has grown with it. It was thanks to this site that I learned what heat does to me.

Although the mapping of the DNA has not helped us yet, it likely will.
And I’m really looking forward to Tovaxin getting to market, and I’m sure there are others treatments in R&D that I don’t know about.
Good points, although I don't think the M.S. "advances" you speak of knock my socks off. My M.S. Specialist hasn't been exactly crowing about them, either (ironically, he seemed more excited about the "leech treatment" research being done ). There's always the next "big thing" for M.S. coming down the turnpike. I've been hearing this since my mother was suffering from M.S. (she died in 1972 from M.S. related pneumonia) and have since become underwhelmed and skeptical about such claims...

but I could always be WRONG, and in this case, I HOPE I AM!!

          Thanks for the interesting perspective.
