I am a single Mom also and I have a very large house. The house was perfect when I was married and had 3 children at home. Now it is just too large for me and the 2 children I have left here. The stairs have gotten to be too much for me also. I have 4 staircases in my home.
I have considered looking into hiring a maid to come in maybe once a week just to clean the main floor of the house. I just can't do it all and work full time anymore.
Have also been looking at smaller houses to buy, when I am ready.
Good luck I hope you find the help you need...

all fine answers, thanks to all. will check with local churches and United Way for starters. about to go to my neuro, so maybe he knows of something.

I don't have family to help me out in a place I would be able to live - way toooooooo expensive where they are.
i moved to a smaller, more affordable place, declared bankruptcy, get medicaid, medicare, and $150 in food stamps a month. i scrape by, but i make it. i need to find some sort of home employment. being handi-capped is a full time job in itself though it seems.

      thx again!

        thanks whatismyname -
i've done all that stuff as well. still don't qualify for assistance. I've moved to a less expensive state and hopefully that will give me peace of mind.

I wish you the best, I know the church I went to in florida did a lot of outreach with the community for exactly what you are looking for so I hope they can help you.

I agree with checking with a local pastor or other religious leader. They could probably find you someone, possibly someone who would volunteer to help or at least hopefully someone trustworthy you could hire for a reasonable rate.
