    From your previous thread:
I already had a mri on my brain and neck to verfiy there are no lesions there.
I'm not sure why you are asking about insurance in regards to MS when, from what you have written, there is no indication of MS (clear MRIs).

A chest scan is not part of the diagnostic criteria for MS. It appears your doctors are looking in another direction.

You will be eligible for Cobra insurance from your employer. Talk to the human resources department at your job.

I was laid off, without insurance and looking for a job, when ms blew up on me. i applied to the mri center that had a charitable foundation that paid for my mri based upon my current income, which was none. my savings was not used to determine my eligibility for anything.

then i immediately wrote to the hospital, docs, lab that i was without insurance but planned to pay but i would need a monthly payment plan. they all sent back what my monthly payment. for each that was a reasonable amount, but combined it was too large a monthly payment..so i sent the maximum payment i could to the lowest balance and just paid a small amount to everything else..i later found that it is crucial to never miss a payment as long as something is paid monthly to confirm your continued intent to pay the bill. and they all became paid off that way.

the ms meds all have patient assistance programs so they are not a problem if you need treatment. go to the medication forum & at the top sticky has placed a post on Prescription Assistance and Funding were they have http://www.msworld.org/forum/showthread.php?t=100575

i had prescription assistance from betaseron and it only cost me mailing cost, $20 every 3 months.

i applied for SSDI, i qualified by both diagnosis & inability to work a "gainful" job. 2 years later I got on medicare and that eased the stress.
(I can't remember if they use gainful as the word? one that a person can live off)

there is now the new affordable health care act that should be able to hook you up with insurance or at least find the state aid your are eligible for...
here is a site to find that stuff. Good Luck! (It's wise of you to be planning for the eventuality. i hope the situation doesn't happen)

              Do you have a cough?

He could be looking for neurosarcidosis, which is one of the mimickers of ms, sarcidosis alo an autoimmune disease that can affect any organ, most often the lungs, when it effects the CNS(also an organ) it is called neurosarcidois & it can appear very much like MS but it isn't.

Hopefully others will writ with more insurance options if something happens but I also wanted to suggest for anyone, MS or not, if you are fortunate enough to see the writing on the wall start looking for another job NOW!

Finding a job that offers insurance might be easier and definitely more financially adventageous than trying to find interim health insurance with MS. Good luck.

My experience with private health insurance companies is that no one will cover you if you have been diagnosed with MS. A lot of them will not cover you if you have had sinus infections ........pre-existing conditions give them an out.

Getting a job with group health insurance is your best bet......
I am now on our state high risk plan.........and it is NOT free.....very expensive.....but then so are MS Meds.....
I am trying to get a job with benefits ....... not going so well...yet !

I agree - start looking for another job with benefits or plan on going back to school. You're going to need another a chance at a group health plan. Individual health plans don't like MS. In the meantime, make sure you COBRA off your existing plan. It's harder to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions (which some plans will do for a number of months, even if they cover everything else) if you've never lost insurance.

                          back to school

When you are faced with a job loss, Heliotrope has given the best advice I've read so far ... think about going back to school. Most colleges have a student plan for health insurance.

When I went back to college, my student insurance was half the price of our family insurance through my husband's job (I went to a state college.) The difference in cost paid for my tuition!

My plan is to go back to school if I lose my job.

                            Why not right?
